Kiwifarms is Josh‘s entire life.

I don’t think he is being honest whenever he hints he is going to quit to have a normal life and a family. If he was, he would, have quitted, or compromised, along time ago. At the very least, he is lying to himself.

For good or bad he has sacrificed a lot just to keep the forum around. I mean going to a whole other country, and getting banned from evey social network, bank and, and payment processor are not pains you endure just “for laughs”. And he is not going to trow the towel that easily after everything he has sacrificed

He is way more dependent to it than he is willing to admit. His entire income comes from donations. And he is basically unemployable in any job with a company that could be tied to internet drama. Aka every tech job ever. At least Moot had plausible deniability with 4chan

Plus Being the owner Kiwifarms does give him a lot of power he enjoys. Just having a thread on Kiwifarms is something that terrifies some people, and that he hasn’t been afraid to weaponize. In a way, it is like having a personal army.

Compromise is gay. The Christchurch shooting video was banned in New Zealand; not America. There's one thing and only one thing I agree with josh 100% about and that is, barring special circumstances, the only way content is coming down is by court order.

I agree with this. Doxing can be funny, but it's not a requirement. Sometimes doxing can generate lulz.. like the Jessie Gender thread I did in 2021 had him tweeting nearly a year later about being doxed on KF. That made me laugh.

Just to be clear I am not moralizing. I am just analyzing why Kiwifarms lost the PR game. If Onionfarms wants to follow the same path I won’t complain.

Tough personally I think compromising is more about not making enemies for no reason not censorship. On hindsight Kiwifarms really only needed a few tweaks. “We stand for free speech and telling uncomfortable truths” is far more defensible than “I laugh at retards because it’s funny. Fuck if you don’t like it”.

Now people want to pretend Kiwifarms is the former, but it’s too late.

But again of Onionfarms wants to do the same, I won‘t complain. I am not here to change things. Just to vent.

It’s just sad because from what I saw, past the /pol and 8chan rejects, many people on Kiwifarms were genuinely nice, and funny, and many just wanted a place to gossip and criticize people that were untouchable otherwise. People that’d didn’t deserve to be seen evil by association.

I think that was something Null misses too.

Honestly that was the greatest loss.
