This is one of the few things i agree with from you. people don't realize but a surprisingly high amount of the population only knows of Null from MATI and when he did do the podcast circuit back in 2016-2018 he really did get a lot of either new fans/paypigs or better reputation from it.
Media was always biased, but back then some journalists and reporters would still die for their coverage and risk their lives more often than they do now. Instead of cover real things nowadays they gatekeep who is allowed to be one so no one can go against the grain. We still occasionally have coverage of stories they don't want us to know but they usually hire fake fact checkers to gaslight them, take them down, and even still Clinton the ones exposing it. All they do these days is mostly report about nothing burgers and harass autistic people and make them look worse than they already look. They did do it to back but they still had more independent journalists willing to die to expose things like the mafia that the mainstream covered up. Nowadays they are gatekept and arrested for not having proper press license and no one has the guts to do any of it if it risks their life or freedom.
