To be fair, democracy being an inefficient form of government isn't a bug but a feature.
The big problem with democracy itself is that you have way too many conflicting viewpoints that shit often doesn't get done.
It's a double-edge sword. On one hand, an inefficient government often hinders any would be tyrants because when you have trouble getting everyone to agree on anything then there leaves more room for debate on an issue to come up with a more fair solution and not just focusing on only one narrow-minded viewpoint. On the other hand, having people not agree with only one narrative means your government will be far less efficient and often solutions to said issues get delayed for months or even years or sometimes decades until the issue in question is finally resolved.
Me as a libertarian-minded guy. While I do acknowledge that democracy is still a much better system than autocracy (because I rather have democracy over communism or fascism), democracy is still a form of government that often doesn't get any shit done.
It reminds me of what Socrates said about democracy where he compared democracy to a bunch of retards driving a ship in the ocean where the ship's crew kept voting for the dumbest decisions imaginable that almost costed them their lives (Socrates went on a terrifying voyage where everyone on the ship was fucking retarded and it was only pure luck that Socrates made it back to shore alive so Socrates used his terrible experience on how he almost had a watery grave to point out the biggest flaw with democracy at the time). Democracy is only as good as a nation's education system and the dumber the population the more likely that the democracy of that nation will fail.

people forget when the US had democracy everyone in congress knew like 5 languages and had the equivalent of a masters in philosophy and were perfectly fine passing laws and doing things that would make their and their kids lives harder if it meant better outcomes for the nation. Like its actually crazy how many founding fathers died pennyless or had no offspring or had like every other reason zoomers and millenials have for just being degenerate drug addicts who enjoy slop 24/7 but instead these guys did their best to keep the entire ship afloat. they were like reverse boomers, they gave as much as possible to keep the nation healthy.
its actually insane how much a high honor culture kept america afloat in the pre-civil war days. then the GOP got in and decided it was racist and anti-immigrant to prefer americans and its been shit since.
but even then, at least within the GOP during the gilded age, i dont think there was too much insanity, like people understood when to set aside differences, the immigrant quota system was a fantastic example of this, the initial bills passed by absurd margins, hell even the 1916 election that happened around the same time. Wilson admited he was going to just resign and give power to the other guy if they ended up winning because he felt even waiting for the lame duck period to end was a threat to the country during war time.
i think the biggest problem now is that both parties have such big tents and are out for blood with their own party members in a way that isn't normally seen. like we're at 1920s Soviet Union levels of backstabbing and hatred just in the same party. Ironically enough this has happened a bunch of times in Latin American countries, Mexico is in a golden age because the current party in power is made up of every cast off who was tired of how corrupt and backstabby the old mexican political parties. the president of mexico had an approval rating with mexicans lower than donald trump in 2017, who literally called mexicans rapists.
the current president has an approval rating in the 80s, and her mentor who ran the country from '18-'24 had one in the 90s and was so beloved their deep state basically rigged 2 elections to keep him from succeeding and he still did.
you see similar stories in el salvador and argentina and its like a right wing version of all the countries post-school of americas who had socialists become president. like you keep people down for too long you end up not seeing the huge waves of support for things not of the status quo and then it all explodes at once. And it is crazy how often the main reason countries keep a bad status quo is because of american policies.
I wouldn't be surprised if a post-boomer america ends up simmering down in the hatred because the politicians would be less selfish and more willing to reach across the aisle
