They never fucking told us about this "ban points" system. Wtf is that shit? Is this some kind of mega-autistic secret system that Null hides away that the mods can use to exert bias among those who they ban? That's absolutely fucking retarded.
It's a lazy attempt at pseudo-automated moderation, is what it is. Null and staff can't be bothered to actually moderate the site. Unless you call one of them a faggot, that is.

This website has the ban point system as well. Its a XenForo feature and auto-bans you once it jumps over a certain threshold, which AFAIK is by default 6 points. Its retarded because there's no discretion involved and is extremely easy to abuse. If a user keeps acting up leave notes on their profile about it instead.
Warning points. Whenever you give a user a warning, you can also give them "warning points". These points can then be set to expire after a certain amount of time, or can be permanently applied. Within the admin panel, you can set up actions to automatically take when users go above a certain threshold. This can be a ban, adding the user to a user group, or putting them on discourage (don't do this, it's really fucking badly implemented and can be used to DoS the site by mashing F5). The ban/user group change can be made permanent, set to expire after a certain time period, or expire when the warning points drop back below the threshold. These are the warnings and warning actions for Onion Farms:
Those warnings are present by default, the warning action was added by me. It puts you in the user group that locks you in the cage when you hit five warning points. And just for the sake of completeness, here's what it looks like when you go to apply a warning to a post:
You can also apply warnings to a user directly, and it looks pretty much the same. Now that warning points actually do shit on OF, you'll get a DM if any are applied to you. If all you get is a notification that a mod put a warning on your post, it was probably me doing it as a joke warning with no points attached to it.

Let's not pretend that Josh takes the warning points system seriously. Him banning pestpoom is proof enough of that, but the biggest was when Boingo was permabanned after effectively proving emspex was being a conniving cunt and made his ban to be a hidden-permaban.
I'm not so sure since he said he loved and misses Jon Stewart in the last MATI stream and wants him back.
