I recall reading it was less than that on that url scan up until someone mentioned it on that thread is when Liz Dong Long Gone started scanning every 5 minutes to then anonymously using the service.

b) as far as hardware ddos mitigation goes it is certainly not the be all end all and josh can't afford the sort of mitigation hardware he'd need
c) I'm not an expert on this but from what I've heard the main issue is not ddos protection but factors he can't really do all by himself.

I read on either KF or here maybe that he's given a drop dead date of sometime in February. The site is still on clearnet, but down for portions of the US. It's still up on TOR.
Yeah, he said he will keep it up on Tor until at least late February, and if he doesn't have any solid clearnet solutions by then, he will strip the database and release it as a torrent.
He then mentioned something about possibly keeping it up on Tor in some capacity after the archive is released so people can coordinate/network etc. but it remains to be seen what he specifically means by that.

Not a whole lot. The thread highlight system is custom, and he's monkeyed around with stuff so that the T/H posters have their own reactions which isn't standard for XF. His featured post system is custom too but everything he's added to the site is either already available as an addon (but better) like the addon we use for featured posts, or something someone whipped up for him like the thread highlight system.

he's not a good coder, he's entirely self taught and if i had to give him a score he'd be just above a beginner, think about it like chess, for most of the population its some hobby only the most intelligent people can play, but even children can learn the basics, Null is like a guy that knows what all the pieces do and can castle and checkmate people without relying on a queen to do all the heavy lifting. he even knows a few opening moves. but he's no where close to winning a competition and anyone with the free time can reach his level in a few months tops.
