It has some affect on the greater community and makes a wider statement to everyone who hears it what can be gotten away with under the law, regardless of its heinousness. If Nick was a serial rapist and showed no remorse for his actions, nobody would be quibbling over whether or not remorse is owed. Wrong is wrong, and seeing people get away with it is never good for society. Nick's Christian faith would further entail he has a duty to God as well to society.

He is seething over the fact that he has been caught allowing pedophiles freely use his website with his knowledge. He simultaneously wants to make the Kiwi Farms seem like it is detached from him and he has no control over who uses it while also seeming like the opposite is true.
He does this all the time--particularly when he says that rules impede him from banning certain users but, at other times, will ban users on a whim just because they piss him off.
