They're not actual defendants in the lolsuit, they are referred to as "infringers" in LFJ's discovery subpoena.
Right now, legally, they're kinda like feral children caught up in a custody battle between two deranged law-farring ex-spouses weaponizing their children as collateral to their legal dispute.
The "infringers" only need to get lawyers if LFJ actually manages to get their doxx from Null, and if their doxx are actually compromising to them personally.
Whether their doxx are actually compromising, that all depends on how much information about themselves they gave over when they signed up for their KF accounts, like what e-mail addresses they used, if they logged in with VPNs, what payment methods they used when they paid for T&HF status, etc. It also depends on how far LFJ is willing to go to escalate. They should also keep in mind that any DMs and e-mails with Null are now discoverable, so they should be extremely reticent in disclosing anything about themselves or how they get on KF in those, if they are currently in touch with Null.
Say, a Kiwi signed up for their KF account using a Gmail account, Null fails to quash the discovery subpoena, and LFJ gets the Gmail address.
Will LFJ then subpoena his former employer just to get that Kiwi's Gmail doxx?
I mean, if this is about punishing and intimidating Kiwis, LFJ surely has the money to do that.
It's at that point that the Kiwis might want to get lawyers to quash LFJ's subpoenas to Gmail (or any other ISP or online service), but it's kinda pointless if it gets to that.
Like I pointed out above, some of these Kiwis appear to be British, so I suspect that LFJ just wants get their IP addresses and banking records to send the police after them in the UK over Hasspostings. He wants to intimidate them legally through their own domestic law enforcement.
It also depends on whether or how long Null keeps IP logs.
Like, if he just logs the IP address on a session by session basis and immediately deletes it the moment a user logs off, LFJ gets nothing.
Null told Kiwis to use VPNs to log into KF repeatedly, so that makes me suspect the worst: that he doesn't actually delete IP addresses after each session.
I suspect this is one of the reasons LFJ decided to play hardball.
LFJ obviously hopes to expose Null to be a liar for promising his users anonymity and freedom of speech.
That was the whole idea behind the poz.hiv hack during #DropKiwiFarms too: expose Null to be an incompetent webmaster to put the fear into Kiwis so they stop using the forum. That obviously didn't happen, so now LFJ trying this route to cause a rift between Null and his users.

- LFJ just-so gets hacked by Hackers on Estradiol, whom he totally doesn't know personally and totally hasn't been in touch with all the way since before the poz.hiv hack
- Hackers on Estradiol steal the unencrypted/poorly encrypted .pdf with the infringers' doxx, easily break the encryption and leak the doxx online, with every troon with a KF grudge spreading it far and wide on Bsky and Discord
- The infringers turn out to be 15 year old high school kids in London, with every TRA on the planet phone-bombing their school to get them kicked out and destroy their education. If they're adults, Sophie from Mars or some other crazy TRA in the UK will be on their way to their house with a big... superdilator to push into their chest.
