For those that don't know the story, back in 2020 when Hololive EN and VTubers in general started taking off in the West, Brittney Venti, one of the more popular commentators in the anti-SJW/dissident right sphere, made a bunch of Tweets and videos calling out VTubers, particularly Gawr Gura. Her rhetoric was very similar to a lot of the things Josh is currently saying, calling VTubers pedobaiters, calling their fans manchildren and pedophiles, etc...

Brittney Venti proceeded to get mocked by every corner of the Internet, to the extent that it pretty much destroyed her career. She will forever be known as the e-girl who got jealous of an anime shark girl.

If Null and Kiwi Farms decide to declare Total VTuber Death, the same will likely happen to them. While VTubers are cringe and their fans are annoying simps, VTubers are ultimately harmless and the anti-VTuber crowd is just as annoying, if not worse than the VTuber stans.

There's a good reason why most trolls back in the 2000's and the 2010's discouraged cow tipping because aside from the lolcows in question being hesitant to make more content anymore (thus ending said entertainment for trolls), the main reason as to why is because cow tipping usually results in making the lolcow a martyr and the trolls in quesiton become the villain (especially when the law becomes involved because things like trespassing on a lolcow's private property, IRL stalking a lolcow, swatting a lolcow, vandalizing a lolcow's private property, committing arson towards a lolcow's private property, extorting a lolcow, and so on can land you in prison).

Another big part is that in the form era of the 2000s cow tipping might lead to escalations and forum wars, IIRC the ED Singers on Encyclopedia Dramatica and the pro and anti-trolls surrounding them are a big reason why the site imploded in the first place.

exactly, Jim's output since 2020 has been so small that you could easily say most of his fans are in their 30s now, while most of the vtuber fans tend to be younger, but either way they're extremely popular because it gets rid of a major hurtle for streamers, which is looking good. If you've ever looked up radio personalities most of them are ugly as shit, but because they have the voice and especially the charisma it doesn't matter. Vtubers are just radio hosts with subway surfers-esque slop to keep zoomers attention.

Its why when everyone shittalks women streamers they go after their looks or their bad content, but the only point of attack for vtubers is the "pedo" accusation, same way you couldn't call Stern boring in the 90s.

I'll admit entirely that the amount of entertaining women i've encountered online has skyrocketed compared to a decade ago and without fail most of them didn't rely on looks to get attention. most vtubers are fugly as shit, but they're also way better at actually being entertaining vs the usual twitch whores.

Like its similar to how Tiktok and social media in general has allowed the more introverted types to show off their outgoing sides without being forced to get on a stage in front of people.

Also lol at Josh, the high school dropout thinking he'd be allowed to teach english. japanese is already one of the hardest languages to learn, but beyond that you need a college degree to teach over there. Even with everything i noted Japan is like the #1 destination for weirdos, so the waitlist to teach english over there is absurd, you'll have to do a few years somewhere else just to show you're a good enough teacher to go over there. My cousin teaches in japan and he still needed a few years in other countries working with the same company before they'd let him in japan and he's in a rural area getting paid fuck all. Not that it matters to him, but its fairly obvious teaching in japan, especially where he is, is on par with retail jobs or working at a resturant. its something for people in their 20s to experience and move on from. You can't live on that wage or start a family or own a house. Its something for you to experience and monkey branch over to something else on.
