Actually, Josh claims to have read Albert Camus' book "The Stranger" which he claims informs a lot of his philosophy.

Josh also describes how when he was 18 he was miserable and fat. His Mom left for California and left him the house in Destin Florida so he had to get a job to feed himself. He started working at Whataburger. He lost a lot of weight and it improved his life in every way. So then he realized you must suffer as part of existence. And that kept him from becoming a school shooter. Nevermind the fact that he gained all the weight back to cope (after a girl dumped him) and then stayed fat his entire life until the start of last year supposedly. And nevermind that he seems pretty miserable now as well, despite not having a work a real job and making more money than he ever has in his life.

Everyone read the stranger, it's required reading in almost every public highschool and some advanced middle school classes. It's a running joke on The Sopranos that Tony's teen fail son AJ (who looks and acts like Josh) reads it and experiences an existential crisis as baby's first philosophical awakening that Nothing Really Matters. Ironically that is not the point of absurdism and Camus was a happy gourmand and carouser who made the most of his one life. He would be mortified at how someone like Josh is wasting his one shot to obsess over coke addict e-lawyers and make the world a stupider, more evil place than he came into.
