Gothic Lolita Street Japanese Fashion.

Now that I can actually post about stuff that genuinely interests me and I can be myself I wanted to make a thread about Gothic Lolita Japanese Street Fashion since it's always been a passion of mine. While it's an expensive hobby I've always loved how regal and pretty the aesthetics can look, like living dolls. I sometimes wish I didn't end up getting a whole bunch of tattoos to pull off the more pure look of gothic lolita street fashion but it's still something I find to be pretty. For those who don't know Gothic Lolita style is deeply connected to the popular street fashion movements around the Harajuku district of Tokyo. This is a well-known place, a home to all things extraordinary and kawaii ( for those who aren't fucking weebs, kawaii meaning "cute". ) Cute is a very pure emotion in Japan where it symbolizes a pure feeling of just wanting to appear wholesome, though there's also the gothic side of things which can lead to gothic lolita fashions which are really pretty in my opinion. I've always chosen to go for darker themes and colors rather than pastels because I like how darker colors look more than brighter colors, but from time to time I still enjoy wearing colors of white and pink. There's something about gothic lolita street fashion that sometimes reminds me of games like final fantasy, or infinity nikki. I'm not sure if anyone else will share these interests of mine, but what are your thoughts on these types of fashion movements?

There's something about Japanese street fashion that I just love, I don't know. I think with the way I look, which has been show numerous amounts of times now on this site lmao, it just works for me. Bandages, dresses, medical themed things, and just everything that's cute, pure or even darker in tone. I've dabbled in yami kawaii fashion in the past, but I just like to look completely out there.

I like to wear dresses, though I've also adapted the whole "yami kawaii" aesthetic, which sounds like weeb shit but doesn't even have anything to do with anime ( the video posted explains what yami kawaii is ) but with how long I've battled with things like depression and just a spiraling mental state it feels nice that a fashion exists to make light of it all, and I just really like how it looks.

There's something about the mix of dark and light colors and the grunge tones that I really like, especially with the way I look and my physique. Yami Kawaii, and Gothic Lolita have always been parts of my wardrobe especially when cosplaying because it just feels "me" if that makes sense. I guess it's really no different than those who would enjoy goth, emo and scene styles.

I think when it comes to Yami Kawaii fashion it's a soft point for me because ever since I was young I lived in children's hospitals, have always been underweight ( even now, I'm age twenty seven and only weigh less than 91lbs / 40 kilos ) and this doesn't even stem from bad habits like people have tried to discuss about me, but I was just born with unlucky genetics. I might not be helping my case when it comes to eating and overall bad life habits, but even when I was active, eating healthy and doing what "normal people do" I was still underweight, sickly and unwell, and no amount of good life habits and choices will really aid in things that just can't be helped with genetics. Making healthier choices can at the very least, for people like me, make things a bit easier, but overall I just try to accept myself as I am, and fashion has made me feel better about my dilemmas.

I think Lolita Fasion looks cute, but the "people" who endorse it are generally petty mean girls not actually interested in discussion or community around it. It makes for some interesting character designs. But they often dont care to have any more personality or depth beyond "im pretty, worship me!".

However the same could be said for internet culture in general after the 2010's.

You're actually genuinely so real for this because I've had "purists" within the lolita fashion community get mad that I spent less than $100 on a dress that would typically cost $600, which is a crazy price to me unless you're rich for just a single dress. Though I think that can be said in any fashion related community, there's always going to be those people who don't actually care and just want to show off.
