We all understand the consequences of supporting a presidential candidate that hasn't really fufilled the mandate he promised. But humiliating a person over supporting a candidate when she cried out for help over the piracy of her movie is called what?
How we got here....
Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, award-winning Nollywood actress and film maker, has disclosed that she was recently hospitalized as a result of being hit with panic attack. She said that the panic attack came to being as a result of her discovering that her 500 million naira {385,000$) movie was being illegally circulated and pirated.
She was able to successfully arrest some of the perpetrators of the piracy, which she had to desperately plead with to take down the illegal link that was being posted on social media platforms like Telegram. She also stated that she and her team had to contact Telegram to help out in removing the links wherever it has been posted. She narrated during a press conference about how she had lost a lot of money from individuals who refused to go to the cinemas to see the movie but rather would "wait for the movie to drop" (the pirated version).
Here is where the online dragging and bullying creeped in...
The news of the piracy of Toyin's movie was posted on the X app and a lot of people had a lot to say and mockery to make. A lot of X users are gloating over the incidence and attributing it to karma. Karma for voting and campaigning for the incumbent president in Nigeria. It is obvious from the tweet of those who are happy and dragging the actress and producer over the piracy of her movie that they are supporters of the opposition parties.

Should people hold Toyin Abraham to the current economic downturn caused by sitting government that she campaigned for? Or should we run with the fact that every electoral decision has consequences and Toyin is simply eating out of the fruits of an failed government (that she supported) which has led people to resort to piracy as a means of livelihood.
