Troon hystery: how the TRA movement started

One of Julia Serano's ideological mentors was a transwoman called Kelley Winters who was writing under the pen name "Katherine Wilson". Winters' work is referenced in Serano's semi-autobiographical debut Whipping Girl. Winters was a Hewlert Packard programmer who became a transwoman but hated having a gender dysphoria diagnosis. In other words, he is the prototypical AGP troon working in tech who is so manly confident in his fetishism that he feels slighted by any therapist telling him it really is just a fetish. Angered that a therapist would question his motives, Winters wrote what IMO is the first SJA TRA book, Gender Madness, wherein he argued for the abolition of gatekeepers to make transitions available on demand on the basis of the idea that troon should be allowed to self-diagnose and self-medicate, the experts be damned. This book is what IMO started the contemporary SJW trans activism. If you read the Archive.org mirror of the website that was created at the time to promote this book, you will see how Julia Serano and other SJW TRAs took a lot of their talking points straight out of the Kelley Winters book. The book promo website for Gender Madness is no longer online, but the archive.org mirror is:
