Popular Nigerian fast-rising rapper and musician, Odumodublvck, has recently boldly refused to be anyone’s role model, stated why he doesn’t want to, and tagged those who desire to look up to him as a dummy. Tobechukwu Ojogwu, also known as Odumodublvck stated this during an interview on the Zero Conditions Podcast hosted by Motolani Alake, Melody Hassan, and Excel Joab. In the interview, he touched on various topics like the trending verse on his song ‘Cast’, trolls, and also being considered a role model.
What led to the conversation about not being anyone’s role model came about when he addressed the issue of celebrities like himself ignoring trolls online. According to the ‘Declan Rice’ crooner, he stated that he is of the school of thought that celebrities should clapback at online trolls targeted at them rather than ignore because they are a brand. In his words, he stated " Where I have a problem is where people come to shoot you and all in the name of brand expect you to keep quiet. OG, the same way Jesus came to scatter everything, I came to scatter everything".
He made references to other big Nigerian artists like Davido and Phyno who would "yab" back if you "yab" them. He said that it is always necessary to always return every diss back rather than ignore because he is a public figure and a role model. He went ahead to add that he is no one's role model. He stated "Jesus is there, don't follow me. I fornicate, I drink, I smoke. You wanna make me your role model? You must be a dummy! I never came here to say I'm the holiest person so don't bring that shit to me. I feed my family with this. This is my hustle. Don't talk down on my business".
