Beware of Purity Spirals because they can and often will destroy online communities.

Why is Reddit so toxic? Because Reddit purposely structured their website where you have to be more Left-Wing than the other person in order for you to have a good standing within the Reddit community. Failure to comply with Reddit's moralistic purity spiral means you are subject to have your Reddit account banned.

Why is Kiwi Farms so toxic? Same problem you see with Reddit. There's a lot of moralfaging and purity tests on Kiwi Farms that should you fail to comply with Kiwi Farms' unrealistic ideological standards then you will get kicked out from the in-group.

You see the same thing with cults. The cult leader structures their cult to be cut throat on purpose in order to keep the most devoted members while those who doubt the cult leader's teachings are either punished or kicked out of the cult altogether.

Kiwi Farms already checks off the boxes of the BITE model on whether or not a group is a cult. Extreme ideological standards? Check. People giving money to the cult leader with the promise of power? Check. Jersh and some of the more high ranking Kiwis rewriting history to deceive the less educated Kiwis? Check. Guilt tripping? Check. Extreme black and white thinking? (Such as a Us vs. Them mentality where there is no grey area.) Check. The list goes on.
