The film's plot is probably mince - we don't like the musical tbh - and we haven't seen it yet, but the merch is to fucking die for. The art direction of the film and the collabs has been fucking perfect. We have been on a spree in our house. The merch and marketing has been fucking A+ will buy again. There's even Robinson's squash in a green glitter edition and pink glitter edition. (The green is nicer and we are drinking it by the pint.)
The Lush collection doesn't smell great but looks gorgeous (the Emerald City soap!!!) so we've binged that and the dolls oh my life the dolls are gorgeous. The girls have the singing ones and the attention to the face sculpts and costumes are *chefs kiss*. A bunch of Wicked Lego is arriving over the holiday season for various gifts. The Emerald City set is glorious.
The OPI collection is inexplicably horrible, do not buy. I have a problem with green eyeshadow so preordered the entire REM Beauty and ONE/SIZE Wicked ranges and they are to fucking die for. The ONE/SIZE palette and the fucking glitter setting spray have sent me. The brush that is shaped like a broomstick. I don't normally go for ONE/SIZE but I don't know how I lived without the Elphaba side of that palette.
There's a ton of stuff aimed at the adult fans of the musical but lots of it is so fucking cute I'm sure people who don't give a fuck about Wicked are buying it too. Cambridge Satchel did a massive line of bags - they collab'ed to get their bags in as the schoolbags in the movie - and they rolled out a metallic green finish along with a glitter pink so we got those. The satchels came in mini size and the girls look adorable with them.
There are the usual T shirts and hoodies and such everywhere so we will be suitable en-merch'ed for our trip to the cinema this weekend. We have our repo bubble tiaras and hats at the ready. There are special cups at the cinema so we will get those.
This is probably the single best marketed and cross-promoted film I have ever seen. The marketing has just been incredible. Gravity-defying, even.
