Its because of how they conceptualize themselves.

And I would argue that sure you could try to be like Jewish as a religious practicioner but in reality it makes more sense if someone is like an important part of a community of Jews, but somehow is not a Jew, and maybe marries someone who is a Jew, but every nation ever had exceptions. Maybe Druze or nonreligious Arabs in israel find themselves in this situation. Otherwise its kinda weird to convert to judaism.

My first wife was an Ashkenazi Jew, and there was ZERO pressure for me to convert. Everyone always treated my sons very well and I imagine that was because of halakha stating that they were Jews, but there was almost a respect I got as a gentile for not being a poseur and converting.

I was raised Roman Catholic like a good little American Irish boy, and the two things that I got a lot of love in that community for were standing up for my kids and other Jewish family members when they were being fucked with, and for never putting on a façade and acting like I wanted to become an oven dodger.

I can understand if you took a 23andMe or an ancestry test and your shit came back like 90% ethnic Jew, but converting for the goof is just weird.

They probably dug me so much because I fucked the Tay-Sachs right out of her bloodline lol. And I mean make no mistake, I still felt like an outsider looking in, but they never treated my son's like that and they also never made me feel not welcome or not loved. It was just kind of unspoken that I wasn't one of them, so I don't think abandoning my own beliefs for some phony conversion would have helped that at all.

One thing you have to keep in mind is that America is still in a post-Columbine and in a post-9/11 world where these two national tragedies still negatively affects the Internet to this day where law enforcement simply doesn't want to take any chances.

Let's look at the Columbine high school massacre. Eric Harris (one of the perpetrators of this mass shooting) once ran a website where he talked about his school life and expressed his hatred for his life at school. Eric Harris even threatened to kill several of his classmates in his website until he had to take down his website when he discovered that one of his classmates reported him to the police but the police did nothing because they didn't took the threats seriously. After Columbine, law enforcement agencies now take this seriously where they just won't take chances anymore. Any threats of violence (even if it's a joke) will be taken seriously by the glowies.

We saw the same thing happened with airports. Before 9/11, going to the airport was like going to a bus stop where you go in and out like it's no big deal. After 9/11, the American government put strict measures to go in an out of airports and this includes being molested by TSA agents to ensure you're not a terrorist. The law would also be changed that would grant the glowies more power to spy on American citizens (both IRL and on the Internet) in order to catch any would be terrorists.

I don't like it either but part of the reason why people like Sheriff Chitwood abuse their positions of power is because law enforcement agencies in general are still well aware that America is still negatively affected by 9/11 and Columbine where the glowies are still able to use those two things to sadly continue abusing their power.
