Computer & Internet Related Is the thinkpad t410 still a good option in 2020?

Please help my only laptopis a chromebook and I cant survive this shitty chrome OS much longer. I think lenovo makes a newer laptop that costs about the same on ebay but it doesnt have the thinkpad nipple
 
That depends on what you need the laptop to do.
I dont care as long as it can run windows programs and is faster than my super slow acer chromebook 15. From what I can tell the CPU speed is like 1 ghz faster so it should be better.

He says he needs a machine that can run windows programs in 2020 effectively.

I heard that they are still okay (I believe it's only once you get dual core ThinkPads that it becomes problems), but their days are numbers, as the max 8 GB RAM will probably be eaten away by the Electron-based apps of our wonderful future.

All I really care about is running basic stuff like VLC or file explorer. On chrome OS it takes like +5 seconds to open any program.
