My worst quality is that I don’t quit. Video fails? I make another one, work even harder on it. Write a story nobody publishes? I’m gonna write a book next. Make a game nobody plays? I’m writing a movie now.

It’s all gotta pay off eventually right?

Note: This OP does NOT "doxx" "Dead Domain" aka Jordan Richard Leendertsen. I do not know where Jordan lives presently and I do not have his home address. The purpose of this OP is to discuss his little known past career in games and to denounce his present-day extremist views.

Dead Domain (pka Jordan Richard Leendertsen) was already a public figure as a developer, designer, podcaster and reviewer in the gaming industry for years before he became famous as "Dead Domain" on Youtube and Twitch. According to public search engine results, Jordan's Patreon account under his real name was linked to his "Dead Domain" Youtube account by Jordan himself. Jordan had thus linked his IRL identity to his Youtube account on his own accord, and it is not an act of "doxxing" to point this out. The purpose of this OP is to highlight Jordan's little known career in the gaming industry prior to becoming a Youtube video-essayist and a Twitch streamer. Jordan's past conduct in the gaming industry stands in sharp contrast to the way Jordan is conducting himself today as a content creator. I wanted to critique Jordan's increasingly far-left extremist views (that I disagree with personally), his publicity stunts against Republicans including his documented infiltration of CPAC which was covered in Variety (as "Jordan L."), while drawing attention to Jordan's hateful antisemitic attacks against a Dzooish detransitioner who had experienced a bomb raid in Israel that left her traumatized. I also wanted to highlight Jordan's online harassment of a mainstream Democrat "transmedicalist" whom Jordan wanted to Livestream interview on his Youtube channel, then proceeded to dogpile with his Bsky followers for refusing to be interviewed by Jordan who apparently can't take "no" for an answer. It's not "doxxing" to highlight a famous Youtuber's pattern of despicable conduct against others, especially people on his own side of the political spectrum. Jordan demands empathy from others while he has none for others.

Jordan's surname "Leendertsen" is a Dutch surname from the Middle Ages which translates into "Son of Leonard". Jordan's white European ancestors are from the Southern, Catholic part of the Netherlands that borders Belgium.

Here is Leendertsen talking about his great-grandfather who was a writer:

Jordan, who insists he's the only real author in his family, eventually followed in his great-grandfather's footsteps by publishing an e-book collection of poems about the game Doom, Verses of DOOM: An Unofficial Poetry Tribute to Doom:

Verses of DOOM: An Unofficial Poetry Tribute to Doom

by Jordan Leendertsen (Author) Format: Kindle Edition
5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars (1)
Inspired by Id Software's legendary video game series, Verses of DOOM is a humorous, horrifying, and sometimes insightful tribute to the guns, gore, and demonic adventures of the iconic shooter franchise.

Including poetic reminiscences of youth spent playing DOOM, translated tomes from the heart of Hell, dark rituals from beyond the mortal plane, and so much more, Verses of DOOM is a must-read for poetry-loving, demon-slaying horror and video game fans of all ages.

See? Jordan Leendertsen a real author you guys, the only one in his entire family.

A fan asked Jordan to pull out "the deep Vesper lore", so he talked about having been raised a Christian and his previous work as a Bible Camp teacher:

"I don't know Christianity?! That's fucking wild. That's crazy! (...) I was not just raised Christian. Like, some people out there, they were raised Christian, they were in the Church, they went to Church every Sunday, maybe they were part of, like, a Church service group... no, no, no, no, no! Well, I did not get as cult-like as a lot of people I know, thankfully (...) I was r a i s e d in the Church. I was raised in the light of the Lord. Let me tell you. Grades 2 through 10 (points at himself), Church School. Confirmation Class. Through high school, I'm talking, every Sunday, potlucks included. I'm talking, I was at vacation Bible School until, one year, I was one of the teachers at vacation Bible school. Cos I knew how it worked and all the people were like, "Oh, so-and-so come and help us!". And my mom made me do it. The idea that I don't know Church or Christianity?!"

Dead Domain's pre-trooning life as an indie gamer: "game guru in training"

It's a long established fact that Youtube troons have usually persued something different before they trooned out for the sake of their Youtube careers. Remember ContraPoints saying he originally wanted to be a concernt pianist, so he went to that music school where everyone was so much at the piano than him, and that discovery was such a huge blow to Nyk's narcissistic ego (you mean I wasn't born perfect?!) that he immediately quit his music studies to study psychology at his dad's school? Leendertsen originally started out as a Jim Sterling, wanting to be a "totally serious" game journalist and a game designer. Leendertsen still plays games to this day, but as far as I can tell none of his present day fans are aware of what he was doing in gaming before he became "Dead Domain" on Twitch and Youtube.

Leendertsen's first Youtube channel was called "Aensland". Unfortunately I couldn't find an older mirror of this on Archive.org, which should give you an idea of how little known and obscure it was. Presently it only has one video and I could not see if there were more videos posted there at some earlier point in time.

Youtube channel: Aensland
Archived: https://archive.is/zc4Cd

This was Leendertsen's bio short on the Aensland Youtube channel, where he described himself as a "horror fan" and a "fighting game guru in training":

Horror fan, adventuring dandy, avid doughnut enthusiast, and completely serious individual. Fighting game guru in training. Find my work on http://groundpunch.com

Here's Leendertsen on Ground Punch. This 2016 excerpt has only 17 views:

I discovered that Leendertsen had appeared on a couple of gaming related podcast episodes under his real name.
This podcast from 2016 has only 35 views:

PunchCast 10 | The Jordan Power Hour, Inside, Pokemon GO

Jordan Leendertsen has been on a PunchCast hiatus and it seems in the intervening weeks he went and played EVERY GAME UNDER THE SUN: Just Cause 3, Evil Within, Silent Hill Downpour, Catherine, Alien Isolation, Resident Evil 5, Bully, Manhunt, Mad Max, Dead Space, Layers of Fear ALSO Jordan rants about Street Fighter V's single player offering, , Drawn to Death, Outlast & horror gaming conventions.

On this podcast, which had 4k+ views at the time, Jordan is wearing a Tim Pool black beanie and his foot is visibly shaking under the table while he's fidgeting the cord of his headphones:

Xbox 360 Back Of The Box Game Trivia

In this 2017 Game Insider podcast episode with 13k views Jordan is referred to as an "intern" at Game Insider:

We then say goodbye to our wonderful batch of interns by talking to Manon Hume, Zak Wojnar, and Jordan Leendertsen about what they learned along the way and then forcing them to compete in a heated match of Xbox 360-focused game trivia.

I checked the comment sections underneath these videos and there are no signs of Jordan's paypigs having found them, no comments saying "OMG, it's DeadDomain!" or anything like that, so if they ever find this thread, I guess they'll be seeing this content for the first time. You're very welcome paypigs, and don't claim lolcow fora don't serve you well when it comes to the deep lore on a lolcow. I personally don't care about horror games so I didn't spend much time going over these podcast episodes, or over Leendertsen's horror game reviews, because I completely lack the contextual knowledge to pass any judgement on whatever he's saying about these games. Someone with more intimate knowledge of that particular genre can take these sources and do a deepdive if they want. Leendertsen does seem much more calm and non-confrontational in these Game Informer podcast episodes than he does today as a nonbinary troon, so I do suspect him trooning out was him succumbing to his fame-whoring AGP narcissism. He wanted to be a famous gamer at the center of attention, but since he wasn't very popular in the world of gaming, trooning out was the way for him to achieve that fame he craved.

Leendertsen even appears to have dabbled in indie game development himself with a game called "Sins", a play through of which you can see here. This play through has only 9 views, so his indie game wasn't exactly popular with indie gamers at the time, which would explain his BS at the top of this OP where he humble-brags about having made "a game that no one plays":

We get pretty existential with this one my friends. I really like this game, and it came out of nowhere as a one-off thing made by the dev. Really nice work though, touches on some pretty interesting themes. Great use of music too.

If you're interested in playing it yourself it's available on Itchi.io for free on the dev's page:

Of course it turns out that Jordan very likely trooned out because of his EPE (Early Porn Exposure), because how else could he? Never goon, never troon.

LetsPlaySins.jpg

The Sins game has since been removed from Itch, though I did manage to find this mirror of Leendertsen's profile on Archive.org, where Sins is described as an "Interactive Fiction" browser game, "A nightmare about going home".

Thank you for visiting my page,

I am an independent game writer, currently working on several projects. In the past I've worked on the indie MMORPG Gran Skrea Online. I'm currently working on an experimental first person horror game called To Dawn and Back.

Outside of my development work, I am a full time college student and writer for horror-gaming website Rely on Horror, where I write news, reviews, editorials, and a monthly column on game design in horror games.

Be sure to follow me on Twitter for more updates as my projects progress, and thank you for reading!

In this Variety write-up he's identified as "Jordan Leendertsen, quest designer for Gran Skrea Online, is now working on his own independent horror game, 'To Dawn and Back.'"

Jordan Leendertsen, quest designer for Gran Skrea Online, is now working on his own independent horror game, “To Dawn and Back.” He says that all of the characters in the game will appear as hideously deformed creatures.

The monstrous body of work of Masahiro Ito – the mind behind the warped inhabitants of the early Silent Hill games – serves as a source of inspiration for Leendertsen. Manga author and luminary of body horror, Junji Ito, is another. He says, however, that he also looked at vintage medical textbooks and studies on genetic deformities to come up with his character designs.

“I’ve known about disorders like Proteus Syndrome, which can cause unchecked cell growth, but in my research I found so many more obscure disorders. There’s Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis, which can cause hard tree bark-like growths that consume the hands and feet. The one I come back to most is Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva, where muscle tissue is gradually turned into bone. Some of the pictures can be very hard to look at, but it is a fascinating disorder. There are some disorders I just don’t look at because I find it too uncomfortable, like Ectopia Cordis, where the heart forms outside of a child’s chest cavity. As a rule I stay away from fetal disfigurements.”

Leendertsen is familiar with the adverse effects of lingering too long on disturbing imagery. He says that when he comes across something particularly challenging to witness, he fixates on the sensations of what he saw happening as if it were happening to him. His mind races toward the worst-case scenarios and it becomes difficult for him to calm down. He said that coming across explicit real-life gore and infants suffering from particularly shocking diseases can put him in a negative head space for lengthy spells. He tries to deal with this by immediately taking his focus off of work and decompressing with a game of Overwatch, a walk outside, or by listening to soothing music.

I couldn't find much on Youtube related to Jordan's other indie game, To Dawn and Back. No playthroughs, though I did find this Twitter account with an Itch.io link to a free download and a trailer:

To Dawn and Back trailer:

I also managed to find a trailer for Gran Skrea with a URL:

Gran Skrea invites players to create their own destiny in an original world of medieval fantasy. Embark on varied and challenging quests, square off in ruthless PvP combat, or write your character’s story through an unstructured economy and player-created guilds.

Dead Domain troons out and joins #DropKiwiFarms

I couldn't find a video or a post where Jordan announced his trooning out, but I was surprised to discover he had been involved with #DropKiwiFarms

Leendertsen's Twitter account "@Bad_Durandal" which was suspended, but to my surprise someone had already mirrored several instances of Leendertsen's account before it was banned:

Jordan Black @Bad_Durandal

I later realized that it was likely Kiwis who had mirrored these instances of Leendertsen's Twitter account, because Jordan had apparently joined #DropKiwiFarms

JordanBlackDropKFLookWhatTheyRSaying.jpg

Jordan was apparently involved with #DropKiwiFarms, which is news to him because no one ever mentioned him that I remember. This is Jordan crying wolf while falsely claiming Rubin was involved with KiwiFarms, while spying on the KF Telegram that was used at the time to communicate with Kiwis and allow them to vent whenever there was a downtime.

JordanBlackDropKF02.jpg

Jordan was apparently also one of the troons during #DropKiwiFarms reporting MATI archiving channels on Youtube to have them taken down:

JordanBlackDropKF01.jpg

It was very weird for me to discover Leendertsen's involvement with #DropKiwiFarms after the fact, because I don't recall ever coming across his name during #DropKiwiFarms, and I was under the impression that I was following most the troons posting on Twitter about the campaign at the time. Imagine working this hard to have KF down, and now the whole of America is basically KiwiFarms, LMAOOO.

JordanBlackKFTelegramNDButch.jpg
JordanBlackKFList.jpg

BTW, Jordan, speaking as an ex-KiwiFarmer myself, you'd better not posting such pictures of yourself on Bsky with visible buildings in the background. Like I wrote above, I personally don't have your whereabouts, I'm not interested in that, but I can assure you Kiwis know how to geolocate this:

JordanBlackCatBsky.jpg

Dead Domain advocates bringing weapons to Pride

In this Livestream DeadDomain advocates bringing weapons to Pride, in violation of literally every safe protesting training in existence:

Going To Pride: Self-Defense, Kink, Community Safety, and More

So Mr Leendertsen was offended at Kiwis "joking about murdering Keffals", but him advocating people bring guns to Pride is totally not extremist? Rules for me but not for me once again with these troons.

Dead Domain: detrans hater who detransed to infiltrate CPAC

As is usual with far-left TRAs, Jordan hates detransitioners, especially the ones that stop pandering to the trans community and escape the gender cult completely. To cater to his fellow troons who hate ex-cult detransitioners, while also catering to the PDS contingent, Leendertsen made a video accusing a Dzooish detransitioner of having never been really trans.

JordanMaiaPost.jpg

This Embarassing Detransitioner Has Secret Links To An Anti-Trans Group

Maia Poet is a detrans woman who was on the ground in Israel. She spoke about her experiences in this interview with Chloe Cole, herself a detransitioned woman:

Detransition: Surviving War-torn Israel and Escaping Gender Ideology | Maia Poet

BTW, I know EXACTLY which video Maia is referring to during this part, about the drug dealers outside of lesbian bars in the 1990s trying to turn butches into testo junkies, saying "I have what you need" as they were pushing black market testosterone onto them. I too saw that particular video when it was posted, and I passed it along to KF. I have to wonder why Jordan is under the impression that Maia Poet is just making it all up, when I myself have seen the sources she's referring to:

Jordan also discounted comments underneath the interview from other Israeli detransitioners confirming Maia's story: "Thank you for representing the pro-Israel LGBT online! Like you said, the LGBT movement has become horribly pro-hamas."

@shoshanaepstein2376
Maia, I'm a 23 y/o desisted lesbian from Israel. I usually don't comment ever, but I find you super endearing. You look just like my cousin. I wanted to point out that while Jerusalem is largely a conservative, religious city (Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and smaller sects all represented), for those who don't know, LGBT are actually very well represented in Israel. Cities like Tel Aviv and Haifa have bustling openly gay scenes, we have equal protections under law, and there are pride parades every year all over the country. Thank you for representing the pro-Israel LGBT online! Like you said, the LGBT movement has become horribly pro-hamas. So glad you're safe! And to Chloe- I've been replaying your interview with Jordan Peterson in my head ever since it came out. The way you're fighting back is extremely brave, and so admirable. And on top of that, it's wonderful to see that you seem to be an excellent friend.

(Source)

Jordan will go after somoene especially if he can tie a particular detransitioner to some cause du jour that is popular with his far-left audience, like he did with this Dzooish detrans woman who, unlike Jordan himself living safely in America, actually lived in Israel and experienced a bomb raid, something I am pretty sure Jordan himself has never had to experience.

Hilariously, this man who clearly hates detransitioners, eventually detransed himself to infiltrate CPAC:

This is so hilarious to me because leftists always get so mad at Karlyn Borysenko and Project Veritas/James O'Keeffe whenever they infiltrate their side, but the fact is that their side infiltrates the opposition too. Everybody wants to get in bed with the enemy, that why Vivian Strange was fantasizing about JK Rowling secretly watching his porn and Destiny actually fucked Lauren Southern. I bet Hasan Piker (whom Jordan is obsessed with) also has a secret Israeli Dzooish girlfriend too, assuming she's not an actual Mossad honey pot.

Dead Domain: Cooonstaaant e-beeeggiiing

Back during #DropKiwiFarms while Jordan was fighting with Kiwis in the Telegram Chat, they got on his case for being a shameless e-beggar.

JordanBlackCooonstaaantEBeeeeggiiing.jpg

Jordan defended his e-begging saying he need "help" and was not ashamed to ask:

JordanJustifiesEbegging.jpg

I don't know how many subscribers or viewers Leendertsen had back then, I'm too busy to look it up on Socialblade.com, but it's been two years since, and you'd think that with 150k subscribers and videos with hundreds of thousands of views, Jordan today would be making decent money from his online trooning. Maybe he is, but a troon's gonna troon so the e-begging hasn't stopped. Leendertsen is still constantly e-begging on Bsky, for seemingly the pettiest of reasons.

Jordan will e-beg when he's overdrafted:

JordanCurrentlyOverdrafted.jpg

But then he's overdrafted again, with only 16 dollars in his bank account, so he e-begs again:

JordanOverdraftedAgain.jpg

Jordan will e-beg when he needs to take his cat Missy to the vet. Mind you, this cat ADORES her troon, you've never seen such mad love between a cat and a troon, but Missy's delusional human can't even take care of her:

JordanCantPay2TakeMissKitty2Vet.jpg

Miss Kitty's surgery cost $1100, so Jordan keeps e-begging because apparently his fans didn't give him enough money the first time around:

MissKittyLiberationFront.jpg

After he's taken his cat Missy to the vet, Jordan e-begs some more because he has only $15 in his bank account saying "Cat surgery this month really fucked me", despite the fact that his paypigs paid for Missy's surgery:

ExampleOfTransbudgeting.jpg

Jordan e-begs on his birthday for money to pay off his debts, to buy a new computer for video editing and to move out of Spokane:

JordanBirthdayJune9.jpg

Jordan's e-begging gets plainly ridiculous here. On June 9, 2025 on his birthday, right afrer his e-begging on Bsky claiming he can't pay his monthly rent, Jordan on the very same day announces he's gonna travel to LA for 5 days to shoot what became his "You’re Being Lied To About The Anti-ICE Protests in Los Angeles" video with 61k views. Jordan can't pay for a hotel, so he's asking whether he can crash on someone's couch while in LA:

JordanWhereTheMoneyWent.jpg

Jordan will even e-beg on NYE, while everyone else is partying, because he supposedly can't even buy himself or his SO a drink or a slice of vegan pizza:

Jordan Leendertsen aka Dead Domain announces he's going to make a film: "Like, just making a movie is a fucking massive undertaking" - Lays out the plot for his screenplay Cathode being about an ancient computer virus-succubus called The Mistress, "something people have never seen before" - The film is going to a mix of the movies Hellraiser II & Tron, the games Alan Wake 2 & Control, inspired by the Castration series with Vera Drew, and will feature no digital effects, only practicals

Jordan, I hereby extend the same challenge to you that I did to Vivian Strange when I caught him bragging about his genius screenplays that no one has ever read: if your screenplay is actually decent, get it on Blacklist.

"I've been writing the script for my film which I'm getting very close to finishing. I hope by the end of March I might be able to look at some crowdfunding, and getting people, at least in hand-shake terms, signed onto the movie. Well, fingers crossed. I'm not expecting it to be on the level of Chris Stuckmann or markiplier (aka Mark Fischbach, director of the recent horror sci-fi game adaptation Iron Lung), even close to those, so... don't expect that by any means."

"[reading from the Chat] "You movie has to be better thank Drinkers", I think it will be. I'm talking to a... so, one of the big hooks is gonna be, like, relying on old school special effects. I've talked about Cathode, the movie a little bit, but what I'm aiming for is, it's not really an easy way to elevator-pitch it, but I guess, like, Lynch is kinda pressing to talk about but it's kinda, like, Hellraiser II meets Tron with a little bit of Alan Wake 2 or Control or something like that. That's kinda the idea, the vague idea. One of the things I really wanna do is work with a lot of practical effects, like, go really guerilla, really old school, Sam Raimi, um, buckets of blood, background matte paintings, that kind of shit. I've been talking a little bit to a kick-ass concept artist who does matte paintings. So, I'm really, really hoping to get in on that. (...) Will there be Sam Raimi camera zooms? Yes, I literally have planned moments. I've been really trying to work out this script because I want it to really be... I think one of the reasons I have a hard time, like, describing it or elevator-pitching it is because, I really want it to be, as my first movie, I want it to be something unique. Like, I have worked very hard on making it something that is not super easy to quantify in so that it's something that, when somebody walks away from it, they will have seen at least something that they've never seen before. Whether that's an image, whether that's a scene, they're like, damn, what I thought of that? That was unique. That's what I'm aiming for. (...) I'm not doing it out of a pretension, like, hmmm, nobody else is as brilliant as I am. Cos that's not the way I'm approaching it. What I want to do is... I have designs and I have ideas for multiple films. I have concepts, I have pitches, like, lined up. And I want every film, I do not want to do films that are: "Oh, it's this but with this kind of character", "Oh, it's basically this, it's a heist movie, but it's this.". Like, I don't wanna do that shit. I want any film I make, anything I do, I want somebody to walk away having felt like they've seen something that they've never seen before. (...) Oh, people saying "you need to have some sexy scenes"? I'm not gonna be in it. I can't say who will, yet. I've talked to some people about it already. But, you know, nothing is written down, so I'm not gonna, I can't tease any of that shit in case it doesn't come to pass. But it's going to be a heavily sexual film. Heavily sexual film.

Like, um, I'm looking at a lot of, cos you have these recent successes of Markiplier and, to a lesser extent, though, to me no less impressive is Shelby Pines from Chris Stuckmann [he means Shelby Oaks, a really shitty Blair Witch Project rip-off]

Shelby Oaks trailer

Like, just making a movie is a, is a fucking massive undertaking, so, all praise to anybody there. But I am looking more, very specifically, at a lot of the transgressive and queer art that has come out in recent years. I saw somebody mention Vera Drew who made The People's Joker. Vera Drew is definitely one of the artists I'm taking some inspiration from, in the approach, not necessarily in the style but in the approach to filmmaking and in the approach to content.

And then another one I'm looking at is the Castration movie series. There are a lot of, like, more artistic and artsy R&D things that I'm looking at to just try and... just for inspiration, I guess.
(...)
[reading from Chat] "Will it be as S&M coded as the Hellraiser films?". I will put it to you like this: the main, and I don't even wanna call her the antagonist, but the main kind of driving force of conflict in the film is an ancient computer succubus named "The Mistress".

VKeepScrolling.jpg

(Jordan is totally gonna show us "something you've never seen before", LMAO. We've been seeing it since 1982.)

So, kinda take from that what you will. Which already sounds kinda Cenobite-y, I think. But it's , there is a lot more there as far as, you know, the thematic underpinning than simply, you know, these kinds of seekers of pleasure at the, the outlying of reality and that kind of stuff. [reading from chat] "What is this movie called again?". The movie will be called Cathode. [reading from chat] "Official pumpkin patch: damn, the motherboard from Cyberchase turned evil". Kinda, you know, little bit more like that. A little bit more like that. Oh, it's very, yeah, [reads from Chat] "love eye there: Lowkey 1990s coded". Yeah, one of the things I want to do, again, in this kind of... I don't want to be... sorry, I'm just talking about my fucking movie now. Whatever. Um, I don't want it to be a, like, I think a lot of people when they make, OK, I'm gonna make a movie in the style of an 1980s slasher. I'm gonna make a movie in the style of, you know, 1970s kinda sci-fi or 1960s sci-fi. A lot of people get hung up on the camp and the kitsch, which is not what I'm doing. I do not want to make a movie that is, like, winking and nudging and being like: "Aha! Remember how crazy it was? Remember how, all the goofy blood effects in 1980s movies and all that shit? Because it's like, you know, you already have those movies. And so it is more a melding of a lot of the techniques and this what I'm hoping will be a melding of a lot of the techniques and special effects of, from across those eras. So, from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, where you had a lot of emphasis on this pre-computer or a very early computer era of special effects, but a lot of stuff like, you know how lightning used to be hand-drawn onto frames and shit? Or like, lightning effects, Big Trouble in Little China (1986 film by John Carpenter) is a great example of that.

BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA Original Theatrical Trailer [1986]

You had, you know, matte paintings. One of the movies I watched recently, kind of for inspiration on the matte paintings and the approach there was Black Narcissus which is fucking phenomenal. If you've never seen Black Narcissus, oh! OH! Just *chef's kiss* just so good.

BLACK NARCISSUS - Trailer - (1947) - HQ

But it is that kind of, like, it's this middle ground where we don't, it's kinda, like, technicolor. We don't have the technology to make films in technicolor anymore, but you can do your best to emulate it. Uh, there was a movie that came out, let's say over a decade ago, called The Love Witch that looks like, just like, a gorgeous film. If you've never seen The Love Witch, that's a looker of a movie. [The Love Witch was actually shot on film, as Anna Biller doesn't like digital cameras. She explained in podcasts that the reason The Love Witch looks the way it does is because she studied the way scenes were lit in the 1930s, when filmmakers would intentionally use strong spotlights to highlight the actors' faces when shot in close-up, in contrast to contemporary films look much more dark for a more realistic look.] But yeah, anyway, that's about my movie, that I'm hoping, by the end of March, we'll be able to start talking a little bit more about.

[Talking about the soundtrack for Cathode] "I do have a soundtrack style in mind, certainly. It's going to be very synthy. I'm still trying to nail down a traditional sound, but if you have like a portfolio or anything, please feel free to mail me at my business e-mail on Youtube."

... so, you wanna make a movie about a computer virus that's a BDSM succubus, and you want a movie that looks like this and Alan Wake 2:

Control - Ultimate Edition Announcement Trailer

...but you don't want any digital effects, you want all the SFX to be miniatures exploding and all the monsters are creature-shopped with aenimatronics. You refer to this as "guerilla", which is an insult to the kind of craftsmanship that goes into practical effects. On top of this, you insist that none of the interiors/exteriors should be greenscreened, it should be studio-made mise en scène, hand-painted and airbrushed by professional artists who are educated about trompe l'oeil and other optical principles. You think your Twitch, Youtube and Patreon paypigs will pay for this, yes?

Tell me you've never looked into professional filmmaking without telling me you've never looked into professional filmmaking, troon.

I'm gonna give you some unasked-for advice, because you badly need a reality check and your Bsky hugbox isn't gonna give you one.

Unironic question for Leendertsen: when was the last time YOU saw something that you've never seen before? I am not even talking about movies here, I am not talking about drugs either. When was the last time you saw something, in your own life, that you can confidently say you've never seen before? How can you visualize the new and unseen in your art, if you're not already experiencing it in your own life? I know this is very Crimethinc (because unfortunately they've hijacked this critique, which long predates them), but first-time filmmakers are warned to make their first movie about what they already know, and not about things they don't even know and can't even articulate. Because "I want it to be unique and hitherto unseen" sounds suspiciously akin to "I'll know it when I see it", and you can't make a movie within budget like that. You'll just be wasting everyone's time and frustrating your crew while wasting your paypigs money.

Now, if you're really serious about making a film, you gotta start using this website. The original budget for Hellraiser II was 6 million dollars in 1987, that would be 17 million in today's money when adjusted for inflation. You really think you can raise 17 million dollars with your 150k subscribers? Speaking of "Vera Drew's approach to filmmaking" that you claim to find so inspiring, Vera Drew crowdfunded a mere $20k for The People's Joker, but he admitted on a podcast that he is now $100k in the hole because he had to put his own money into finishing that project. That's on top of getting volunteer submissions from 200+ volunteers from around the world, and plugging into his own professional network he had built up as an animator and an improv comedian for a decade before he trooned out. Vera Drew hasn't recouped either, because movies for troons are the embodiment of "get woke, go broke", since troons don't have any money and pirate everything. In fact, Vera Drew was openly attacked by the trans community for not making The People's Joker freely available. Hell, I myself pirated it so that could I discuss it here on OnionFarms.

Here's what Vera Drew posted recently on his Letterboxd, about how the funding structures that were around when his favourite movies were made no longer exist and how he wants to make movies regardless:

Am I going to fucking quit making movies because the movie business I dreamt about as a kid doesn’t exist anymore? Fucking of course not. I mean…believe me. I definitely have my “fuck it. I am going to fucking quit” moments. Especially last year. Jesus Christ. 2025 was a Tower year for me (to put it into tarot terms). But this is what I do. It’s what I was born to do. I had a successful TV career for a decade, but I only ever thought of it as means to an end. I just wanted to direct fucking movies, man. That’s all I wanted ever since I was six years old and saw Back to the Future. And then that feeling only intensified when I saw Clerks. “Holy shit. Broke middle class kids from nowhere can make movies?!” And when I saw Kill Bill? Sheesh. The idea that you could have an anime sequence, kung fu, and fourth wall breaks in your 3 hour meditation on motherhood…forget it. I was a goner. If you have this passion. This passion to make pictures…you gotta just fucking do it. You gotta stay out of the past otherwise it just fucks with your head.

I cried tonight when it got to the Out of Time sequence. I cried for Sharon and her unborn baby. I cried for Jay Sebring. Wojciech Frykowski. Abigail Folger. Steven Parent. I cried that their lives were cut short by a bunch of fucking loser maniacs. But I also cried for Tarantino. I cried for every kid who ever wanted to make movies and gave it up because of “diminishing returns.”
I cried for the filmmaker I hope I never become. The one who gives up because they don't know how to adapt to the changing media landscape.

The thing about making movies is the Making. Enjoying the Making. Never learn not to love the Making.

I Saw The TV Glow, which I know you've seen from your Letterboxd, had a 10 million dollar budget and barely made over 5 million. It's another example of "get woke, go broke", yet despite not being able to recoup Schonbrun was doing these interviews bragging about how he wants to make more troon films with the cis people's money.

I'd say try paying for your own pizza and drinks first before you start demanding that kind of money from your subscribers.
