There's a thought I've been having.
It's kind of weird to say, but it feels like when SSJ_Ness got banned, the soul of Kiwifarms died and the site truly entered its death throes.
I'm not gonna say Ness is innocent--he absolutely said stupid shit and deserved that ban--but the weird thing is that sometimes Ness could be the most reasonable person in the room.
I recall once talking about Ranma 1/2 with him, an anime where most Kiwis look at the premise and call it "tranny shit," but Ness was one of the few people who understood that something can have a gender-bend premise and not have anything to do with trans stuff.
And this was Kiwifarms in a nutshell: half the time it was stupid, the other half the time they were some of the most reasonable people online.
While the forum had been losing its mind before Ness was kicked, it feels like his booting accelerated it.

you're probably not wrong. when a forum has such a small userbase any power user leaving really fucks up everything. think about it like a community. say a high school of 1200 kids. one leaving really fucks up everything sometimes. especially when there is only 5% of those that really contribute a whole lot and keep people's spirits up.
in august they used to knock out about 60k posts per week, and now its under 50k meaning site activity has dropped 1/6th in the last 4 months. Another thing to note is the quality of the posts. because i'd say about 10% of posts at minimum in a given week are A&N posts of people going "fuck niggers/indians/trannies" or "i hate this" or "this rules" to any given article without adding anything to the conversation. despite the hype its a much smaller forum than people think.
thats whats funny about null banning people, its basically a userbase of 1200 people and he's expecting 600 paypigs. he only has 133 paypigs right now and that seems in line with the userbase. way more understandable for 1/8 people to donate vs 50% especially when you notice how many don't have jobs. it also shows you how crazy this whole thing is. he has 9 mods for a site with under 50k posts weekly. if even 1% of posts are flagged, that's still 500 posts for 9 mods to review, why he needs so many is insane.

how many posts are you seeing that need sweeping? users are obnoxious enough to report "rule breakers" so most of your job is done for ya. you don't need to look at every single fucking post. Null's even admitted the mods were faster than even facebook's and that was before a 20% drop in posts and a doubling of mods meaning even less "work" to go around.
especially for a Free Speech forum jannys shouldn't be sweeping too much.

I'm gonna be honest, part of the problem is Onionfarms is literally just a place I go to, to bitch about KF.
Part of the problem is nothing else is really actively discussed here. I recall back when the news of The Completionist being a charity scammer first broke, I posted about it both here and on KF. On KF it became active, dug up more info, and even got discovered and used as a resource by the people who were investigating Completionist.
On Onionfarms I only got two replies and both were "who is the Completionist? Why do I care?"
And that pretty much says it all: Onionfarms isn't interested in being anything more than a refugee camp where we bitch about KF, and for that reason it will never be as big.
The other problem is that a lot of the people here aren't that different from Kiwis.
I think for a KF alternative to really work, it has to
A) have an identity outside of being a KF alternative.
B) have a culture that is very different from KF.
That said.... the biggest thing that saddens me about KF's decline is that they were an information resource, and when they go, they're gonna take a lot of valuable intel with them.

As someone who was browsing the sharty thread last night, it was anything but. The posts from around yesterday were revolving around a doxxing campaign on the sharty called "No Nut November", which was a giant gay-op to try and dox as many NSFW artists as possible.
They got about 100 people, most of them having only committed the sin of being a troon or making gay art. One person was doxxed for daring to question the ethics of the almighty sharty during this shitshow, and only one other person actually had the feds tipped off about them. This was because those participating were less concerned about actually dealing with potential pedos and more about sending "'zas," which is soyfag speak for ordering pizzas to people you doxxed... along with keeping track of who could send the most
One streamer had four pizzas sent to them during a stream.
But of course, the soyfags didnt stop there, and another streamer had their account hacked mid stream.
Im amazed Null is trying to brownnose these fags. Imagine the kind of reaction thered be if the journalists pushing #DropKiwiFarms found these people on the site advertising the successes of their doxxing campaign.

Everyone the sharty has doxxed came out unscathed. If you ask me, I strongly believe that the Sharty glows brighter than a quasar.
Most of their shenanigans involve black hat script kiddie hacking (illegal), the Sharty often making false police reports (also illegal), and harassment that often involves a lot of A-Logging (even Anthony LoGotto never went this far with Chris-Chan).
I also know for a fact that the admins for the Sharty do not protect the privacy of their own users and they collect data from their own anons where they sell that off to any data broker for some quick cash (which is dumb because should any Sharty anon is being investigated for a crime then the admins will easily rat them out). So the fact that the Sharty admins sell out their own users shows me that the Sharty glows brighter than a nuclear explosion and this makes the Sharty no different than 4chan.
I've also heard of horror stories where whenever the Sharty attacks someone, some of their anons will spam CSAM in order to frame their targets for a crime the victim didn't commit. If that is true then some of the Sharty anons are criminals for being in possession of that illegal content.
If you ask me, it wouldn't surprise me if the Sharty are on some FBI watchlist. I see his ban as a wider internet trend of people, even on edgier forums, getting tired of the right wing. If you read through his ban thread, a couple people were questioning why someone like Ness was allowed to post for as long as he did without any mod intervention, since the things he said that got him banned weren't anything new for him.
