Man all this gaming stuff reminds me of one of the cow orbiters and poop touchers I used to hang in a Discord with/helped her basically build her own Discord and she got triggered over GamerGate and people like Felicia Day. It's like after we fell out...do you realize the people you are hanging around? I'm not very big on AAA games so I could, quite frankly, give two fucks less about Zoe Quinn and co. just leave my strategy games be. But they did care yet they would go on about how they hated NaL and how her keys were worn down from gaming. Yet they also would spew this very non-feminist and non-PC shit about Jessica Boyle and how she treated animals and people while they would play as a feminist to others. It's super tempting to show but what is there gain by publishing shit when I have everything I need published in the LoC now? Needless to say they flat out told me they hate their nieces numerous times, what a lovely female role model! Said nieces also are primarily the custody of the father and not her sister so big oof.
It's just wild to me though that people will pick a side on GamerGate but then get into Lolcows. They won't see the irony one way or the other when it comes to other associations. I remember GamerGate being this big thing in college but just not caring as it had nothing to do with anything I followed nor would it as I follow games that are niche primarily. Yet to some people it became their whole culture and they've taken this culture and mutated it into this weird social media hybrid or Tiktok hybrid or lolcow hybrid or you name it and it's just become a lesson in why having more than one news source is good for you. AND THAT'S WHY I RECOMMEND GROUND NE...no I use Al Jazeera, the Guardian, Politico, Euronews, the Hill, and Ars Technica.
