I was pretty big on WWE growing up.. i was pretty sad finding out that bray wyatt had passed would watch it with my folks.

The outcomes are scripted, but at least 75% of the bumps are real. That "mat" that you "safely" land on is about 2 in of foam on top of wooden slats. It hurts like shit even when you land correctly. Imagine landing on your back from the top turnbuckle onto that.

The "ropes" usually steel cables that are used in airlines that have been wrapped with electrical tape. They leave red marks on your skin when you run them and if your body doesn't hit all three ropes, you risk accidentally sending yourself over the top rope because of the inertia.

And most guys work "stiff" or "snug" which means most of their punches are pulled but you're still getting hit with them. Yes the main concern is protecting your opponent, but there's a difference between protecting someone and it not hurting at all. You can only protect so much when you are choreographing a fight.

All in all if you think that a stunt man throwing himself down a flight of stairs is "fake" because he's doing it in front of a camera for a movie then yes by that definition wrestling is fake.

I went to wrestling school and it was a grueling 6 months where we learned the basics for 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. I don't think I ever felt like it was fake lol.

I'm not really into wrestling, but I can see how the painful reality of the fights can be entertaining. WWE ain't making millions for nothing.

I'm more of a Jerry Springer kind of guy. That show is also fake and rigged, of course.

In middle school i hung out with a dude across from the house i used to live in. He was a HUGE wrestling fan. Even had a few video games of them, but they were mostly WCW. But anytime a WWE PPV would happen, i would chill at his place with a couple other of his friends. Fun shit. This was around the time where they were doing some dumb shit though like Mark Henry knocking up that old hag whom not only gave birth to a hand, but always wanted to flash her tits. But we all were there for the Rock, Steve Auston, Undertaker, Coropration when they jojned forces with the Minstry of Darkness, etc...

i gave up on wrestling right around the time Chris Benoit went psycho and murdered his family and himself. i was getting sick and tired of John Cena and Randy Orton for the 345873465756834th time. They could never hold a candle to the past wrestlers, especially once WWE decided to play it safe for the kids.
