Let me introduce you to Simon Ekpa, a Finnish Politician, Rabble Rouser, possible grifter and quite possibly the biggest political lolcow in Nigerian History. It's hard to know where to begin with this guy.

Since 2009, Ekpa has worked in the legal field, including as a legal advisor. However, Ekpa is not an attorney in Finland and does not represent his own clients in court. Ekpa became familiar with the legal field while on internship at his ex-wife's law office.

Ekpa has stated that he is an expert, a legal advisor, and has a Master of Law (LLM) degree from the Welsh Aberystwyth University, but upon inquiry by Yle, the university didn't give any information about the degree. Ekpa has no apparent lower or higher legal degree.

Why? Well, it's complicated but basically the Igbo ethnic group in Nigeria were resented in the predominately Muslim northern part of the country. During the time that Nigeria was a British colony British missionaries brought Christianity to Nigeria along with education and colonial industrialization. The Igbo accepted this, ethnic groups in the Muslim north such as the Hausa did not. The Igbo came to dominate the colonial economy and as a result, they were resented by a lot of ethnic groups.

Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah, has accused the self-styled Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), Simon Ekpa, of feeding on the emotions and suffering of Igbo people to hold them hostage.

The governor who stated this on Saturday when he received members of the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence, during an oversight working visit to the state, said the Finland-based Ekpa was taking advantage of the people of the South-East to manipulate them at will for his own selfish interests.

He however, called on the people to reject new calls by Ekpa for another sit-at-home as such would further impoverish them and truncate their businesses. Mbah reiterated his administration‘s commitment to ending illegal sit-at-home enforced by non-state actors that held the people hostage both psychologically and economically.

“Simon Ekpa creates some kind of siege atmosphere and thrives on it to make a living, continuing to extort and exploit our people, who may not be aware, and telling them that he is fighting for their interest. “He feeds fat on the emotions and sufferings of Ndigbo for his selfish motives. How can you claim you love our people, a people known for hard work in our DNA, and sit somewhere to dictate to us when to go to work and when not to go to work? So, I want to also take this opportunity to call on our people to disregard this threat. “We have demonstrated our capacity to provide security for our people and we will continue to do so through the help of our security agencies. “We cannot be intimidated. We cannot submit ourselves to this siege atmosphere he wants to create in the South-East. We treasure our hard work as a people.

“So, you cannot love a people and all you do is at the very expense of their existence just to grow followership and gain cheap publicity. “I’m also calling on the youths, not to fall for these sorts of cheap antics because this is completely antithetical to our belief system. It contradicts our values and opposes our work ethics,” Mbah said.

KANO, Nigeria — Nigerian authorities are clamping down on anti-government protesters who have been seen waving Russian flags and chanting pro-Putin slogans in the country’s northern cities.

The nationwide protests to decry the rising cost of living and “bad governance” started on Aug.1 and spread across the commercial capital Lagos and several northern cities last week. But security forces have had a delayed response to the unusual but increasing presence of pro-Russia support at some of the protests in northern states including Borno, Kaduna, Kano and Katsina. This week the police said they had arrested some tailors responsible for making Russian flags. The Nigeria Police Force and the defense chief both said the use of foreign flags during protests and openly calling for a military takeover of the government is a capital offense under Nigerian law.

The Russian embassy in Nigeria was quick to deny any involvement of its government or its officials. “As always, we emphasize that Russia does not interfere in the domestic affairs of foreign states, including Nigeria,” it said in a statement. “These intentions of some protesters to wave Russian flags are personal choices of individuals, and they do not reflect any official position or policy of the Russian Government on the issue.”

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has dissociated itself from the Biafra Government in Exile said to have been set up by the group outise Nigeria. SaharaReporters reported a few days ago how the Finland-based Simon Ekpa, who is a self-professed disciple of IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu declared what he called full activation of Biafra Government In Exile (BGIE).​

Ekpa had said that all the activities of Biafran supporters and agitators were to make sure that “Biafra will totally be free from Nigeria in 2023 and forever,” adding that Biafra’s final breakaway from the Nigerian government is drawing closer and therefore “we also wish to officially announce an alliance and activation of Biafra Government In Exile (BGIE) with the IPOB-Autopilot.”

However, reacting to the declaration, IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, in a statement on Sunday described the purported government as a scam and a trick intended to deceive the general public.
Powerful explained that IPOB has legitimate, well-established institutions and a well-structured administrative hierarchy that oversees the day-to-day running of Biafra affairs, adding that all diplomatic missions and countries of the world know about Biafra agitation and they communicate with IPOB.

According to the statement, Powerful said, “We the global movement and noble family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under Mazi Nnamdi KANU wish to reiterate once again to Biafrans, friends of Biafra and lovers of freedom across the globe that IPOB led by Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu has not set up any Government In Exile (GIE). We, therefore, dissociate ourselves completely from the purported Government in Exile.

“IPOB has legitimate and well-established institutions and a well-structured administrative hierarchy that oversees the day-to-day running of Biafra affairs. Already, all Diplomatic Missions and countries of the world know about Biafra agitation and they communicate with IPOB as the responsible authority that oversees the affairs of the Biafran people be it Nationally or Internationally.

“IPOB has international contacts and connections not through any worthless Government In Exile but through our established Institutions and Structures. So, anybody or group peddling or claiming to have set up a Government In Exile has again embarked on a jamboree like those who came before them claiming to have formed a government in Exile at one point in time. They simply do not deserve to be given any attention because this is the avenue that the Nigerian government wants us to water down our agitation for total freedom.”

Powerful stated that “Some dissidents expelled from IPOB including a former Deputy to our Leader had once suggested this Government In Exile to our Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, but he did not buy into it knowing fully how needless it is at this stage of our struggle.

“But unfortunately, now that our Leader is in detention, these same elements saw it as an opportunity to actualise their selfish ambition by quickly claiming to have set up the non-existent GIE. We know that their ultimate aim is to use it to sell the Biafra struggle to our enemies but they have failed woefully.

“We knew that many Infiltrators sponsored by some unfortunate politicians are fighting strongly to sell Biafra freedom through their main Infiltrator hiding in Finland. He has run out of gimmicks to stay afloat, hence, he decided to resort to the latest claims of purported GIE gimmick to deceive his gullible followers.

“Therefore, everybody should ignore and disregard the purported GIE because the motive is ulterior and sinister. Biafra has established and recognised channels through which it operates and communicates with world leaders and governments without needing or having to call that channel a government in exile.

“People should stop supporting and making a caricature of the Biafra restoration project by announcing Biafra Government In Exile any time they want to defraud Biafrans or sabotage our course for freedom.

“We urge governments across the world to disregard and ignore these fraudsters claiming they are forming the Biafra Government In Exile. This new wind of setting up another Biafra government in exile is a distraction that should not be given any serious thought or attention as it will soon fizzle out like others before it but it is important that Biafrans and the International community are properly informed thus this need to set the facts straight.”

I will drop a few things regarding Simon Ekpa. This is why he is a political cow. His Biafra Government in exile is a massive flim-flam. Josh grifting 150K pales compared to this. However I dropped the first two screengrabs from the DM between Josh and Rekieta in here for a comparison.

Do you want sweetness or do you want steady content. Lolcows such as Chris Chan or Ethan Ralph are definitely sweeter to the palate in here but tend to be limited in content (relatively speaking).

Political Cows such as Simon Ekpa tend to be relatively bland but compared to classic lolcows, the content is never ending. Classic lolcows may come and go but political cows are here to stay. It can be hard to tell the difference when it comes to people such as Donald Trump.

Simon Epka was sentenced in September to 6 years in prison in Norway for terrorism offenses

A court in Finland has sentenced a controversial leader of a Nigerian secessionist movement to six years in prison after convicting him of terrorism-related offences. Simon Ekpa, a Finnish citizen of Nigerian origin, "attempted to promote the independence of the so-called Biafra region in south-eastern Nigeria by illegal means", according to court documents made available to BBC News Pidgin by his lawyer. He also equipped armed groups with weapons and explosives through his network of contacts, the Päijät-Häme District Court ruled, in a unanimous verdict handed down by a panel of three judges. Ekpa, a former councillor in Finland's Lahti city, denied the charges.

Parts of south-eastern Nigeria have been hit by instability for years because of the conflict between a secessionist movement, the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob), and the security forces. It is unclear whether Ekpa, who was also convicted of aggravated tax fraud, will appeal against the ruling. The court ruled that he had engaged in illegal activities between August 2021 and November 2024, and had also used social media to incite the public to commit crimes in Nigeria. Ekpa, who had previously said that he led a faction within Ipob, was arrested at his home in Finland in February 2023.

In 2022, a BBC investigation identified him as one of the "media warriors" of Ipob, who were allegedly using social media to call for violence. He did not respond to BBC requests for comment at the time. Ipob is banned in Nigeria, and its leader Nnamdi Kanu is being tried on terrorism charges in the West African state. He denies any wrongdoing. The group was formed in 2012 as a peaceful movement, but launched an armed wing in south-eastern Nigeria in 2020, saying it was doing so to defend the Igbo ethnic group.

However, its critics say it has unleashed violence that has caused huge suffering. The Nigerian government had called for Ekpa's extradition, saying he should face justice in the West African state. In March last year, the Nigerian army said Ekpa and 96 others were wanted for terrorism, violent extremism and secessionist threats. Ipob wants the south-east, and part of the Niger Delta, to be their independent homeland, which they call Biafra.

The secessionist campaign first gained impetus in the 1960s, when an Igbo army officer, Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, declared the birth of Biafra following killings of south-easterners in northern Nigeria. But that attempt at secession ended after a bloody three-year conflict that led to more than a million deaths from fighting, starvation and a lack of medical care.
