Ouch! Netflix Has Stopped Renewing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Deal

Oh, how the royal fairy tale keeps unraveling in Hollywood! It looks like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s multi-million-dollar Netflix honeymoon is officially coming to an end. According to multiple sources spilling to The Sun and People, Netflix will reportedly not renew its whopping $100 million deal with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex when it expires this September. And if you’ve been following the royal-to-Hollywood saga, you probably saw this coming.

Let’s not forget, this was the golden goose deal. Signed back in 2020 after the couple’s dramatic exit from royal duties, the Netflix partnership was hailed as their big splash into American media. It kicked off with a bang: 2022’s Harry & Meghan docuseries, a tell-all extravaganza that gave Buckingham Palace sleepless nights and Netflix its biggest documentary debut week ever. But fast forward to 2025, and the buzz has significantly dimmed.

While With Love, Meghan, a lifestyle series showing the duchess in her Pinterest-perfect element (think: arranging flowers in gowns and baking in a French country kitchen) still has a second season on the way, it barely made a blip on Netflix’s radar. One week in the top 10. That’s it. It came in at #389 on the most-watched list in the first half of 2025. Ouch.

Sources say this isn't necessarily a breakup, more of a conscious uncoupling. Netflix is allegedly open to “one-off projects” with the couple down the line, but let’s be real: this sounds like the corporate equivalent of “we can still be friends.”

What’s more interesting is what happens next. There’s already buzz about Meet Me At The Lake, a romantic novel Harry and Meghan acquired the rights to adapt. Will Netflix still touch it? That’s the million-dollar (or, in this case, hundred-million-dollar) question. Netflix is staying mum, and Archewell isn’t talking either.

And speaking of Archewell... the couple’s other big-money deal with Spotify? That one already imploded in 2023 after they reportedly failed to meet “productivity benchmarks.” Oof. Meghan did find a new home for her Archetypes podcast at Lemonada Media, but Spotify’s exit left many industry insiders questioning just how sustainable the couple’s media empire really is.

Then there’s the American Riviera Orchard debacle. Meghan’s attempt at becoming the next Martha Stewart kicked off with an Instagram video full of candlelit aesthetic energy, but never produced a single shoppable product. The brand has already rebranded to As Ever, and though a few items were finally released, they’ve already been marked “sold out.” Some say it’s a branding mystery, others whisper it’s a soft failure in slow motion.

At this point, Hollywood seems unsure of what to do with the Sussexes. Sure, they’re headline gold, but their projects are proving harder to market and even harder to sustain. And with Netflix quietly stepping back, one can’t help but wonder: has the couple's star power begun to fade? Or is this just the calm before their next controversial storm?

Either way, stay tuned, because if there’s one thing Harry and Meghan are still good at, it’s keeping us talking.
