General Discussion: users, bad takes, jannys, Null, etc
What do you think caused the decline of KF? Null or a larger cultural change?

I say larger cultural change considering the fact that a good chunk of people here act like Kiwifarms users despite shitting on them

Would still personally put the blame on Null, as he was the initial force that led to the larger cultural change of the site becoming Green Reddit.

@Gore San yo answer this. any idea what's going on?
Probably due to sweeping old posts. We're working on a highlight system so marking some for later when it's done and sweeping old off topic arguing.

The US, throughout its history, has invoked the Insurrection Act at least 30 times, according to Wikipedia. It's not authoritarian; it's the law.
The Insurrection Act is not the same as classic martial law though.

Contrary to popular belief, what the Insurrection Act does is that while it does grant the president more military powers this still don't grant the president full governmental authority. Local law enforcement, the courts, state legislatures, and Congress would still operate independently like normal under the Insurrection Act. The Insurrection Act simply assists law enforcement in suppressing any riots or insurrections that gets way too out of control (like the 1992 Los Angeles city riots) and military personal must retreat after an insurrection has been contained and put to an end.

Martial Law is a different story and martial law is nothing like the Insurrection Act. What happens under martial law is that the civilian government is completely suspended (this includes the courts and the legislatures including Congress being suspended) and the military takes on the role of civilian government. Under this scenario, elected and appointed officials would be forced to step down from their posts (the Insurrection Act doesn't grant the president this power) and the military takes over these civilian roles (law enforcement, the courts, state and federal legislature, post offices, airports, museums, city governments, broadcasting stations, social services, etc would be under full military control) and the Insurrection Act simply doesn't grant the president this kind of authority to impose martial law.

I'm aware that Trump wants to invoke the Insurrection Act because he thinks this will grant him martial law powers (it doesn't) probably for the same reasons he probably thinks Cruise Control in a car is "Autopilot". The Insurrection Act would give Trump more broad military powers but this still isn't the same as classic martial law where power is rested on one central military authority under martial law rule.

We really going to meme Trump into using Martial Law, are we? :paytas:

This is your brain on kiwifarms

Like say what you will about the Groypers, the reason they're winning the PR war vs their rivals is because they literally just don't want to enslave or kill white people and don't cheerlead their deaths. Like maybe you might find evidence of them doing it 20 years ago, but Null was talking about catboys on blocklands back then so it doesn't count. if you only look at the last 2 years Fuentes is winning hard and only because he seems like the only decent human on the alt-right

edit:shout out to whoever got the USPG2 thread on that quatr airbase thread. played them like a fucking fiddle, excellent derailing. they went from "its a nothingburger" to "well its actually fucked up because they're our enemies"

Also, am I the only one who hates the word “phonebooking”? Like it’s just doxxing. They say the difference is “It’s just gathered information, I didn’t hack anything” but that’s still doxxing and it’s still stalkerish and gay. Past Kiwifarms kinda just accepted they were the bad guys, now Null is going for this “Scorned hero” angle that’s just very cringey.
Null came up with the term explicitly to cover his ass from legal troubles and told his userbase to use it so he would stop getting lawsuits.

The funny thing is it still wouldn't hold up in court any better than saying "in Minecraft" would because the actions are still the same as doxing and that's what they would look at if he broke any laws.

how about wikipedia style navy links system that points to the best and informative threads like this?

The highlighted feature was for finding the best posts in specific threads. The featured threads always has the Josh and kf general ones.

There is even a thread where Null demands his users to use that gay newspeak term replete with outbursts from him and his fanboys at anyone who points out the obvious. Judges and juries will love to see that.

yeah, I know how it works. but the thing is, you have to manually shuffle between highlighted posts and there's no way to choose what highlighted post you want to view without endlessly pressing the "next" and "previous" highlight button. a nav link for navigating all the highlighted post to me is a more welcoming addition to the highlighted post feature

I will let them know because it's still a work in progress, and this input may be helpful.

Reason: They like the idea.

I'd say it's a bit of both but I learn towards.... well, just the culture of KF changed, probably as a result of old users going away and getting replaced with new users.

I used to get the feeling that KF had some sense of self-awareness and irony about it, and used to not mind the terminology like the racial slurs or the invoking of "Jews" all the time because there was a sense that it was all ironic. I even remember some Kiwis back in the day saying "n_ggers" didn't necessarily mean "black people."

But over time it increasingly became..... well, I said it in the Kiwi Tropes thread: they saw the domineering dad who hates everything kids are into and wants to stop it, and decided that was a model to aspire to. So now they're the forum that hates everything and pretends to be something they aren't, and they've been in an echo chamber so long they no longer realize how insane they sound.
