>tell your users to use a VPN/TOR
>they do, but now your site dies because of it
>rather than find out why, you get paranoid and think the "enemy" is harassing you
idk whether or not that's funny or sad/pathetic
So is he just eternally fucked forever because of how the site is structured or is there SOME saving grace to get it working somewhere in the realm of "normal"?
i noticed some of this stuff about a year ago and just minded my own business. i would not openly remark on or post anything else that looks like an achilles heel, but 1) im not probing for it, and 2) i pinky swear that on a quick cursory check, he fixed it all.
the only and i mean ONLY thing left is that 500kb wallpaper (i like it) and the video autocaching/autoloading whether you want to watch it or not.
but he has done performance tuning, he may be doing imagemagick or doing image compression on the caching server or something like that on the fly to compress images. he fixed damn near everything that i saw as a weak point, whether because some asshole trying to fuck with his site, or it just not scaling for the kind of traffic hes getting with cloudflare out of the picture
hes probably doing 500-1000+ transactions per second in SQL just fine, and im guessing theres some bottleneck where its X,XXX or XX,XXX per second that things start fucking up. the site works fine its just scaling and performance. hes doing fine imo.
i guess every single "reaction" or reply is a chain of four transactions: 1, to the webserver, 2: to the database, 3: to update the page, and 4: to notify recipients.
(1000 people taking some action simultaneously , is instantly 4,000 transactions) thats just how it is. almost anything you do on his site is at least four transactions if youre doing something that notifies another user (quote. mention. react. etc.)
literally nobody asked me or gives a fuck what i think but id be happy to sperg some on this topic for any other site owner(s)
