I think you are misrepresenting. The Null/Fong-Jones rivalry started because Fong-Jones got mad that Kiwi Farms was making fun of his friends who used to run Trans Life Line (the same pair who were kicked out for scamming). He tried to DMCA a post with one of his tweets (or something like that) and Null reposted the unsuccessful request, and from there it was history. Null is likely correct when he says that for Fong-Jones, this whole thing is some sort of grift. He does run a "reputation management company", and being the guy to take down Kiwi Farms would get him business. Just because Null is a scammer and a scumbag does not mean anyone should go to bat for a litigious tranny who has been accused of raping his partner (the "consent accident" which Kiwi Farms turned into a meme) trying to use loopholes in copyright law to censor his enemies all so he can make more money.

I think Null has a decent case here, since one picture is an edit of Fong-Jones and the other is used as commentary for illustrating the subject. People take single screenshots of, say, a TV show for the sake of blogging about it all the time and as long as you attach who the copyright belongs to, that would be fair use. I would, however, be a bit concerned that Null did not follow the DMCA to the letter. This could easily be an expensive ordeal for him and lead to defeat all because he was too stubborn to do something plainly obvious.
