Current Username : Doll (•˕ •マ.ᐟ Formerly known as Kiwi Kitty, I want to discuss topics of interest and mind vomit without censorship - as the internet has become too sterile for me to speak my original thoughts on most of the mundane social media platforms of choice, such as Facebook where I've recently been banned. Feel free to have a conversation with me on this thread, and all discussions topics are welcomed. If you're here because you're somebody who has disdain towards me - welcome, and good luck.
I just don't like games with a ton of cutscenes.
Fair enough tbh, can't say otherwise since I'd be a hypocrite since I've complained about recent games being movies, rather than games myself.

I just don't like games with a ton of cutscenes.

Most of the lain fanbase are secondaries who never actually watched the anime and completely misinterpreted the entire thing with their own autistic headcanon and fanfiction illustrated by artists who also never watched the anime but saw Lain's character design. Wouldn't have an issue with it if they didn't try to retroactively force their retarded discordfag narratives laced with modern day identity politics into it as if they are gospel.
True, I like Lain and have watched it all because I'm a fan of what it had to say without having to think too hard about it, watching it can be like a fever dream but when you realize what serial lain represents it's neat and the way that it predicted what the internet would turn into when the anime was made in 1999 is foreboding since lain means to represent human connection and the separation of reality and the internet, showing it to be a dangerous thing if you choose to live in a dream rather than be able to step into reality. I've always loved Yoshitoshi Abe's work, especially an anime called "Haibane Renmei" which will always be a masterpiece and a favorite of mine next to serial experiment's lain.

I've gone by the name Reki for some time which most of my friends refer me by on my platforms like Discord, would high recommend Haibane Renmei since it's short, and a really beautiful story and piece of art.

Like most anime of the time, the other adaptations took on a life of their own. With the PS1 game being completely different from the anime. Some fans even ported it so it can be played from your web browser.

https://laingame.net/
I loved the PS1 lain game because it's the "bad ending" to it's anime counterpart, basically the "what if Lain didn't have
Alice Mizuki in her life to remind her that she's human through human connection?" question being displayed for us to see - making it the flip side of the same coin. I could go on and on about both the anime and the game but this is enough autism for now.

- There was also a website known as System Space / "The Tsuki Project" that was based around serial experiment's lain which I was an early member of and also one of the first 1k members, it seemed like a novel place until it was revealed to have been possibly linked to a few actual suicides before the website shut down for good, but it was a really artistic website when it was around and there's a lot of videos covering it. It's fascinating to me how many things are inspired by Lain from it's community, at least those who have actually seen the anime and consumed the media. Don't think System Space was meant to be taken seriously but of course there's going to be those who are actually mentally ill who will use something like a website as their final push, unfortunate for those who lost sense of reality.

Because of System Space I also learned about a cool game called "Event 0." since the website had been using the song "Hey Judy" from the game as their opening screen welcoming audio, which was oddly fitting.

Oh RIP kiwifails btw sorry to hear about the drama and that the broom didn't work out for you. We had a solid chain dm conversation going hopefully you didn't peak my dms and see the like 45 different dm chains I've had with Daniel previously but idc

I doubt Kiwi will see this but at the same time it's probably not the place to talk about Kiwi here since there's really no need to keep bringing Kiwi up when Kiwi had nothing to do with the thread or topic here and I'm not wanting people to have things against one another or stir up more unnecessary drama since it's been blatantly annoying - I'm just saying this now because I don't have problems with anyone and never did and just don't want people to keep it going when there's no point, especially on this thread.

Where else can we talk about it? It doesn't look like there's anywhere else it's mentioned. I'd consider him an efriend so I wanted to mention it incase he sees it. We talked off/on for like 5 months I'm just paying my respects

Fair, I'm just tired of the drama and guess I just don't want this thread turning into another hate orgy fest by mentioning unrelated people when I just want people to be fine and to chat about casual shit, right now even mentioning these names will get people going, which I want to avoid because I just don't care about any of it at this point and want people to drop it lmao.

Oh ok, I just checked to see if I had a message from him or what and thought I might be blocked or something cause I couldn't click his name. It's all super fresh info to me, sorry for being late af to this. How's your night going?

How's your night going?
Could be better, went through losing a friend over miscommunications and not being able to understand certain things that were going on, but besides that I'm fine I'm spending my night playing some video games and working on more script work towards a visual novel I'm working on as a self "dev", learning Python. It's a pretty fun first coding language for me, if HTML and CSS / JavaScript don't count, in my opinion Python is a bit easier.

Sounds adventurous, busy and a bit creative. That's right up my alley (kind of, I know next to nothing with coding). I painted this arcade shaped tissue box I found at a thrift store for $1 because it was all solid blue. What games do you play? I've been playing monster hunter Wilds lately

I've been into coding since I was a kid, started off with decorating my social media platforms in the early 2000's of the internet with html and CSS, before eventually moving on to JavaScript and now being able to easily learn Python since it's easier than I thought it would be, but creating a "game" / visual novel by yourself is time consuming and there's so much I have planned for what I want to create, ambitious project of mine that will be ready at some point or another.

That's a really adorable tissue box, and for some reason makes me think of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared.

More often than not I'm usually playing games that people haven't even heard of like Disillusion, Disillusion ST. , SeekL, Miya The Broken, Yume Nikki, Yume 2kki, but sometimes I enjoy more mainstream pieces of media that more people would know about like the entire series for Class of '09. Mouthwashing, 100% Orange Juice, and so forth. On rare occasions I'll play games like Yakuza 0, but I usually enjoy titles that only I have heard about since I make it a challenge for myself to find rare gems that nobody else but me would know about, since they always end up being really neat pieces of artwork that I come to appreciate - I enjoy the obscure and macabre.

I've dabbled in HTML and css too but I definitely can't do much with it. Just dipped my toes into it for profiles and some for university. That sounds complicated but worth it so you can see your vision come to life. Hopefully we get to see it here too

Thank you. I had trouble choosing a color scheme but liked the vintagey brights for this one

I've only ever played Yume Nikki of this bunch and I think maybe 100% Orange Juice at one point. I like some different games too but mine tend to be colorful, like jet set radio or darkstalkers. We have some overlap though I think.

Btw are you the person in the OP? No offense but I ain't reading the whole thread. If you are it looks like you're into alt fashion which is cool cause I am too. Have you seen/tried the Whering app?

Agreed. Let's move on to better things that are actually relevant.

I’ve always enjoyed revisiting Haibane Renmei. I’ve watched it twice over the years, and each time it feels like reconnecting with an old friend. The atmosphere and storytelling still resonate with me.

Lately, I’ve been exploring C++ as a way to bring my game ideas to life. It’s been challenging to find beginner-friendly resources that click with my learning style, but I’m experimenting with small projects here and there to build momentum.

Also started on more 3D models. This is just a rough blockout I spent about an hour on.

There was but it was deleted apparently. Probably so people stop talking about it. All I will say is I like him too, we would talk to eachother about random stuff all the time in dms. Hope he's doing ok.

I miss when Myspace was popular. The custom pages were cool. Whatever hap to Tom, I wonder.

I'm Katelyn Rose, who this thread was made about so yes.

The TLDR about this thread was a small community of people who would read too much into my posts and photos on places like Facebook, as well as people who actively hate watch/follow what I do on my socials coming together to moral fag me and gossip about me and I knew the entire time, then blended in with everyone on this site while screwing with the people who were a part of talking about me on this thread lol.

Have you seen/tried the Whering app?

Jet set radio is good too, have you checked out bombrush cyberfunk yet?

Yeah I didn't know the lore much just I saw one dude making weird fanfics about you often. I still don't know much tbh because I'd rather talk to you than read weird egossip but you seem cool
I haven't what is it?
Ooh I've been trying to get my fashion efriends in on it. It's an app where you can take pics of or find your clothes/accesories online and make outfits out of them. Like a dress up game but with your real life stuff. You can add people and make outfits for them or have them make outfits for you. I wore an outfit today someone made for me, if you make one we can add eachother.

Yeah it's ok but it def gives fan game vibes. OG>Future>BRCF for me personally
