Actress Jenna Ortega used her platform on Saturday to speak out against the immigration raids in Los Angeles, urging her followers to stay informed, stay angry, and take a stand against injustice. The Wednesday star took to Instagram Stories to express grief over recent ICE enforcement actions in L.A., which have sparked mass protests and unrest in the city. “The world is crying all over,” Ortega wrote. “People in Los Angeles are being torn away from their everyday lives & love... The ones they've built so tirelessly over the years, just like you.”

She extended her message to other global crises, including ongoing conflict in the Middle East, referencing innocent civilians in Iran and the Israel-Gaza war: “Palestinian cries are still being buried in every day media. My thoughts are heavy, my heart follows.”

Ortega encouraged her 40+ million followers to stay engaged: “Never stop paying attention... Listen to one another & love, but be angry too. Educate yourself as best you can. To say this doesn't concern you, or that it isn't your problem, is a privilege under abuse.”

Her statement was posted on the same day as nationwide “No Kings” rallies, many of which criticized President Donald Trump and his administration’s immigration policies. In Los Angeles, several of these protests turned into riots that damaged local businesses. Ortega’s post also arrives amid ongoing political tension in Hollywood. Her Scream co-star Melissa Barrera was previously dropped from the film franchise after voicing her stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a move that sparked a major conversation about celebrity activism and censorship.

Actress Jenna Ortega, best known for her role in Netflix’s Wednesday, is facing criticism for a recent Instagram post in which she expressed concern for civilians in Iran and the Gaza Strip, but made no mention of Israeli victims amid the escalating conflicts in the Middle East.

In an Instagram Story posted on Saturday, June 15, the 22-year-old star wrote that the world is “crying” over various global tragedies, including immigration raids in Los Angeles and the wars involving Israel, Iran, and Hamas. “Innocent civilians in Iran are caught in the middle of warfare. Palestinian cries are still being buried in every day [sic] media. My thoughts are heavy, my heart follows,” she wrote to her 37.2 million followers.

She encouraged her audience to “never stop paying attention,” urging them to “listen to one another & love, but be angry too. Educate yourself as best you can. To say this doesn’t concern you, or that it isn’t your problem, is a privilege under abuse.” The post has since been saved to her Instagram highlights. Ortega’s statement came one day after Israel carried out airstrikes on Iranian military sites, following rising tensions in the region. Meanwhile, the Israel-Hamas war, which began with a Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023—continues to affect thousands of civilians.

The post drew sharp condemnation from Creative Community for Peace (CCFP), a nonprofit pro-Israel organization made up of entertainment industry professionals. In a public statement, CCFP criticized Ortega for “erasing” the suffering of Israeli civilians. “If you truly care about innocent lives, all lives, then don’t erase Israeli civilians,” said the group. “You wrote about being heartbroken over civilians in Iran and Palestinians being buried by the media. But where is your heartbreak for the Israeli families being slaughtered by Iran’s missiles and terror proxies?” The statement called attention to Israeli children sleeping in bomb shelters and families impacted by ongoing violence. CCFP accused Ortega of speaking “in vague moral poetry” and urged her to “educate [herself] fully” and condemn all forms of violence, including that committed by Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran.

“Shame on you,” the group concluded. Ortega’s post follows a pattern of outspoken support for Palestinians, which she has shared multiple times since the Israel-Hamas war began. Her Scream co-star Melissa Barrera was previously removed from the franchise over similar posts deemed anti-Israel by producers. The backlash against Ortega adds to the growing tensions within Hollywood, where celebrities’ public stances on the Israel-Palestine conflict are being increasingly scrutinized and challenged from all sides. As of now, Ortega has not issued a follow-up or clarification.

"Shame shame shaaame on you" who is Jenna Ortega and is Wednesday a spin-off of the Adams Family. A franchise that peaked in the 60s and had a decent resurgence in the 90s but has mostly been forgotten.

Can these self important fucks just do what they are paid to do (i.e. acting and jiggling tits) and not spew their unimportant opinions??

Jenna Ortega may be Hollywood’s favorite scream queen and Netflix royalty, but when it comes to love, the 22-year-old star isn’t giving her heart to just anyone, unless your name is Barack Obama.

In a headline-making resurfaced quote, Ortega once admitted her first-ever crush was none other than former President Barack Obama. Yes, the 44th POTUS. Not a Disney teen heartthrob. Not a co-star. Not even a Gen Z icon. “To this day, I’m still obsessed with Obama,” she confessed in a 2023 interview, citing his intelligence, charisma, and calm demeanor as everything she finds attractive. But don’t expect Jenna to be cozying up to anyone else just yet. Despite constant speculation, including being linked to The Weeknd, Percy Hynes White, and even NBA star Devin Booker (thanks to a fake viral photo), Ortega has made it clear: she’s too focused on her career to date. In fact, she recently told Elle, “Maybe I am too obsessed with my work, but the idea of relationships stresses me out.”

That hasn’t stopped the rumor mill. Fans have paired her with everyone from singer Jacob Sartorius to her Wednesday co-star Percy Hynes White, with some even pushing bizarre theories involving Johnny Depp and Tommy Lee Jones. But Ortega has shut it all down, jokingly responding to the Depp claims with, “What the f*ck are you talking about?” and laughing off her red carpet interaction with Jones as purely professional. Still, her recent on-screen chemistry with The Weeknd in Hurry Up Tomorrow, and their cozy moments at the May 13 premiere party, did raise a few eyebrows. The “Starboy” singer was seen hyping her up from the DJ booth and wrapping her in multiple hugs. But with his longtime girlfriend Simi Khadra holding his hand that night, it seems clear: there’s no love triangle here.

So is Jenna Ortega single? All signs point to yes — and happily so. She’s booked, busy, and reportedly not looking for anything serious. Unless, of course, Obama walks into the room.
