Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner Imisi has opened up about a deeply personal and traumatic experience from her childhood.
The discussion took place as part of a task given by Big Brother where housemates were asked to share stories about themselves, following the Head of House challenger game.
While speaking with fellow teammates Koyin, Jason Jae, Sultana, and Mide, Imisi recounted a harrowing event at the age of 12, where she was sexually assaulted. She expressed that the experience left a traumatic impact on her, noting that she cannot be left alone in a dark place.
āThe first time I was sent out from the house was when I was about 12. There was someone that took me in on the third day to his house, then his mom realised he had brought someone home, then he took me to the church. In the church there was a store room there, very dark. It was just me alone. Then he left. I dunno if he had an idea that something was going to happen that night, because I didnāt have anywhere to go and I couldnāt go back to my parents at that time.
āSo I got raped. That was the first time I got raped in my life.
āI had to go to school the next day, then I was sent to go back home, then I got raped the second time, there in that same room.
Then I later realised I was pregnant and I was just 13 years old. I had to abort the child.
āI feel like that is something that traumatises me every time I cannot be in a dark place alone,ā Imisi recounted.
The mother of Imisi Ayanwale, the winner of Big Brother Naija season 10, has finally spoken up on the allegations that she abandoned Imisi before she became a millionaire.
In a now viral video, she expressed her gratitude to Nigerians for their support and encouragement. She also revealed that she has been staying with her younger sister, adding that āsome peopleā do not want her around.
āIāve received mercy from God. Thank you so much to all Nigerians. Iām staying with my younger sister in Ajah. Even though some people didnāt want me around, others welcomed me, clothed me, and fed me. Iāve been happy and at peace,ā she said.
