This is an archival film produced by the Rockefeller Center in 1920 that was meant to educate people about Hookworm disease which was prevalent in the American South until well into the 20th century. It is one of the diseases that give rise to the stereotype of the "lazy, inbred, stupid Southerner". It was at least partly responsible for the south (particularly the Deep South) being "backwards" less developed compared to the rest of the country.
