Maybe if Gay Pride marches were not so hypersexualized or intending to be vulgar......
It's held at night here, has become more raunchy with time, and people still take their kids.Would it be too much trouble just to have a gay pride parade at night? That’s called glow it’s only for adults. Or rent one large mostly empty warehouse and have everybody go there.
I know in Chicago there is gay pride at night. But according to some people from my work, some people would bring their kids during the day because it would be appropriate, but at night it’s not appropriate for the kids. It's held at night here, has become more raunchy with time, and people still take their kids.
The general public didn't attend the marches/parades back in the day. Now they're promoted as entertainment. There was always a seedy side to pride marches, they just weren't shown to the general public until they were on board with the program.
It's arguably reached the status of being a religious festival, as this Slate Star Codex article argues. The general public didn't attend the marches/parades back in the day. Now they're promoted as entertainment.
I actually know the reason for why the gay pride parades got like this, and you might find yourself understanding why but as the saying goes:Isn't this kind of sexualization an ironic re-enforcement of the negative stereotypes? Homo means you like people with the same genitals as yours, or it should be in the basic definition and that's what many gays from older generations espoused.
