Fabian Guzman: Transgendered Nonbinary Individual Thrown Out of Chi Omega Sorority

Fellow Onions of all stripes let me introduce you to Fabian Guzman the transwoman of your dreams (or nightmares depending on your point of view). Guzmán identifies as a non-binary, genderfluid person who was assigned male at birth.

The national chapter of the Chi Omega sorority gave Fabian Guzman (a student at St. Lawrence University in Upstate New York) the boot. According to an email that he received by the Chi Omega National Chapter

“The selection criteria in the policy on membership includes ‘females and individuals identifying as women,’ which, by the chapter’s own understanding and your indication through the process, it is clear you did not meet the criteria at the time of joining. We are bound by our governing documents, and your membership must be voided.”

Guzmán said on TikTok that he was accepted into Chi Omega and was in good standing since 2022 He claimed that during his original rush, the national and school chapters were approving of his acceptance. He was reportedly in line for recruiting chair in 2024.

The national chapter of Chi Omega expelled him with no right of appeal. Guzman feels this reinforces stereotypes of what sorority females should be. He is blasting the decision as transphobic and said it reinforces "dangerous stereotypes".
