I don't think anybody thinks Jesus was ever a God himself.

I don't know what the Protestants say about this one, but I can tell you that Catholics actually do think that Jesus was the living embodiment of God, while being the son of God at the same time. The whole holy Trinity thing is kind of an odd thing.

Also, Islam should just die.

😏

Jesus Christ is one of the greatest prophets in Islam. In fact he is second only to Muhammad. The Virgin Mary is also highly revered as well. The biggest difference is that they regard him as a prophet not God himself.

That was a trip when I first heard that I didn't believe it.

I found that out while I was talking to these Christians in Iraq called Assyrians, who if I'm not mistaken are the oldest surviving followers of Jesus.

I was wondering if I would find positive representation of a disabled person in the Bible — and I did. Jacob’s story is lovely. after all that Esau forgives Jacob; they part in peace. The drama is fucking insane though.

Disabled people basically had it tough back then though there were elements of compassion. I am glad for the enlightened society of today.
Negative Views:
  • Sin and Punishment:
Some interpretations of the Old Testament linked disability with sin and divine punishment. This is seen in passages that restrict individuals with certain physical impairments from serving as priests.

  • Stigma and Exclusion:
    Disability was often vie
    • wed as a stigma, leading to social exclusion and limited opportunities. For example, there are accounts of people with disabilities being excluded from the temple and other places of worship.

    • Dependence and Charity:
While some were cared for by relatives or received charity, many faced difficult living conditions and were reliant on the generosity of others for survival.

    • Devaluation:
In some cases, individuals with disabilities were seen as less valuable or capable, impacting their social standing and opportunities.
  • Positive Aspects:
    • Inclusion and Belonging:
The Bible also contains narratives of inclusion and God's love for all people, including those with disabilities.

      • Acts of Compassion:
Jesus, in the New Testament, is depicted as healing and showing compassion towards individuals with various disabilities.

      • Disability Ministry:
Jesus's teachings emphasized the importance of caring for the poor, crippled, blind, and lame.

      • Emphasis on Inner Qualities:
The Bible also stresses the importance of inner qualities and character over physical appearance, suggesting that individuals with disabilities can still possess great worth and value.
      Ambiguity and Complexity:
      • Diverse Interpretations:
Biblical texts on disability are subject to diverse interpretations, with some emphasizing negative views while others highlight positive ones.

      • Ongoing Debate:
The role of disability in the Bible, particularly in relation to sin and divine will, remains a topic of debate and discussion among scholars and theologians.
