It doesn't really mean anything. The UK will just block the website. The UK can fine Josh, but have no authority to make him pay it. I suspect it may effect him if he does ever travel to the UK which is unlikely to happen. The UK may hassle citizens who visit the site.View attachment 96396
Anyone who’s a bit more legal and tech savvy, what does this mean for the site? I read the email and the replies and I’m genuinely too retarded to figure out what’s next. Block UK citizens from visiting the site… or else what?
What is more interesting here is it looks like Reddit Josh wants to ride the wave of outrage over OFCOM and farm reddit karma. He had previously complied with OFCOM by blocking all UK IPs (to the point the point of making a cringe blog about it) but it looks like he stopped blocking them recently.
Some lawyer wants to brown nose Josh and is giving him "free representation" in regards to OFCOM. For some reason he believes he doesn't need to abide by UK laws to be freely available in the UK when bigger websites and companies than Kiwifarms have abides by the law. The UK is going to wipe its ass with this letter.
Why doesn't Facebook or Twitter give the Iranian courts a strongly worded letter demanding to be freely accessible in Iran?
The British government thanks Josh for doing their work for them and considers him blocking British IPs from accessing Kiwifarms to be complying with OFCOM.
