Cuban actor Pedro Moreno, known for his roles in hit telenovelas such as El rostro de Analía, Una familia con suerte, and Me declaro culpable, was arrested in the early hours of Thursday, May 15, in southwest Miami-Dade County, Florida. The 44-year-old is facing charges of robbery with violence in connection to an alleged domestic violence incident.
According to Miami-Dade court records, Moreno was taken into custody around 4:00 a.m. and is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. As of Friday afternoon, no bond had been set.
The incident reportedly took place late on Wednesday, May 14, at the home Moreno still shares with his wife, Bárbara Estévez, despite their ongoing divorce proceedings. Police records state that an argument broke out over the status of their relationship and suspicions of infidelity. The victim allowed Moreno to use her cellphone, but he allegedly began going through its contents without her permission.
When asked to return the phone, Moreno reportedly refused and forcefully took the device, which police valued at approximately $250. The couple's eldest daughter witnessed the struggle and called 911 using her own phone. Moreno returned the phone shortly afterward.
Moreno and Estévez have been married since 2008 and share three children: Pedro, Alexandra, and Christian Leo. In 2015, Moreno legally adopted Alexandra, Estévez’s daughter from a previous relationship. Their youngest son, Christian Leo, was born in 2014.
Although the victim was not physically harmed, the presence of a minor during the altercation could influence the legal outcome, as the incident is being treated as a domestic violence case involving a child witness. Moreno appeared before a judge on Thursday, but no decision on bond has been made at this time.
