North American mall retailer ran by Steven Silverstein founded by Max Spencer Adler. Started out as a mail-order catalog service now how more than 600 locations in the United States as of 2025. June 19th 1947 is it’s founding date. Parented by Universal Studios from 1996 - 2003. Acquired Spirit Halloween in 1999. Met with legal issues in the late 60s from Sex toys being bought by minors to product misleading. Also political and social problems with the products they sold.

Spencers holds a deep sentimental value to me ever since I was 5 years old when me and my step brother would go there since he was obsessed with Nirvana and other similar themes as well as aesthetics that Spencers has to offer. This thread isn’t anything personal to Steven Silverstein. He seems like the type to drink beers with at a hooters and talk about philosophical beliefs. My grievances about how he runs the company is coming from a business level and not a personal. If Silverstein were to read this thread and try to shit on it under a fake alias I would still walk into the closets store I’ve been going to my whole life and support the company by purchasing products. Even then if I became a billionaire myself I would just throw money at the stock hoping other investors would jump on board. Spencers is more than a money printer to me, it holds emotional value to me, it influences generations, and it is a pure example of what the American Experiment can produce. Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, self-expression, and political representation on all sides. Very similar to the values and ethos of Onion Farms.
This Thread will not only begin to create a high way of relation to Spencers but to critique its business practices. It will also be my way of pipe dreaming of being the CEO if I were to ever become the CEO and what I would do on my first day having the throne.
