Social Media Personality Lil Tay’s reported death was a hoax. She claims her Instagram account was hacked and used to spread rumors about her and her brother’s death.

The following was a statement provided to TMZ from Tay’s family: "I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say. It’s been a very traumatizing 24 hours. All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess."

Lil Tay got her fame as the “World’s Youngest Flexer” who showed off her lavish lifestyle across social media

Lil Tay made headlines when Angela Tian and Christopher Hope the parents of the foul-mouthed kid rapper who then resided in Vancouver were duking it out in 2018 in court battling each other for custody of Lil Tay and full control over her life and career. At around this time, she went silent on her social media account.

According to PerezHilton.com, at the time her death was reported it was also reported that both her and her brother Jason Tian had also passed away. However, there was skepticism about her passing when it seemed that no one could verify her death. Her former manager Harry Tsang as well as her father Chris Hope did not confirm the legitimacy of this statement.

Harry Tsang told Fox News Digital that he believed this was nothing more than a publicity stunt orchestrated by her brother to get Lily Tay’s name back in the headlines. However, Angela Tian’s boyfriend (Chuck Wigg) disagrees that it was some kind of a prank or PR stunt.

Chuck Wigg released the following statement:

“Tay and Jason are alive and well and are living in LA with their mother, Angela. I don’t know if it was PR stunt, it took me by surprise. I don’t know what’s going on. The internet, a lot of it you can’t believe. It wasn’t a PR stunt by Tay. Jason told me her account was hacked and I’ve got to believe them.”
