Luck. How can sites that dox people over and over and over again in quick succession (like they've done to SEVERAL VTubers!) survive as long as it has?
appealing to the worst aspects as to why people go onto the internet.
Gossip, tea culture, and faggot adjacent things to attract the worst of those types.
The worst kinds of people from nerd subculture, "errrrrrrm ackktaully!"
Mental illness and lack of self awareness.
Victim mentality in advertisement to sell product. It's why we have some of this weird shit going on currently with the educational system in America.
Polarization.
People not even understanding or learning from the fundamentals as to why these people became this way, learning from it to avoid making the same mistakes. Eventually making them into those types.
It makes my mind shift away from just a conversation about the internet in general. I do think that one day—and it’s already on its way—the internet will die. I think these subcultures, as they currently stand, are going to be a part of that conversation. In a way, they already have.
In one thread, a user named “femboy fartsniffer,” a porn addict, was complaining in the AI art seething thread because of a post made by another user.
Currently, in the UK, there have been laws passed that are making it harder and harder to stay anonymous online.
He’s from there.
Do you think, as the site currently stands—and given that username and the information I just told you—that you would be willing to hop on board with supporting net neutrality?
No. They won't. Being so chronically online has ruined their perception on how things, how people, work. If I am a judge, or a member of a jury. And I see that, or any other instance of the usual on that site. I would not be on Josh's side at all. I would think, "these people are a bunch of fucking crazy lunatics". You can go off and do your own thing, I have no problem with that. But don't be surprised when those types of things bring you bad karma and the consequences from having a gossip site to your name.
It does not matter if you stand for free speech, or that you believe in a free internet. People in general do not like that kind of behavior and at most tolerate it. Then they will either take the kinder route and distance themselves from you or tell you straight up, point and blank, to fuck off. And judging briefly from his posts, he seems it bit uncomfortable with people knowing this type of internet. He may mask it with "I believe in the free net" but in reality he just doesn't want to be bullied for being a porn addict. May be jumping a bit far here, but since it's the kiwifarms, it may not be that far off. These people seem to think they are invisible.
If I were a detective on a specific kind of case, do you know how much information I can gather on these people just from the small bits and pieces they post of their lives alone? They opened the door, you go in, you see it, you really digest it. All of these people are fundamentally are very sad. You may not know every bit of information. But you know just enough that you can piece it all together.
If anyone in the legal field worth their salt goes against and really digs into the kiwifarms, they are fucking spit roasted. But don't you dare call a spade a spade. Or a cloud white. No, no, don't you dare. I stand with the first amendment! Don't you see?
