Of course thats their right, but normies always take this right too far and get into retarded a-logging and overusing the words “pedo” and/or “zoo”. This is why I feel like shit would be helped if some cringe folks got in. Or else you create this weird environment where everyone believes they’re “counterculture” because they adhere so heavily to culture, norms, and conventions, albeit outdated ones.

Issue is you can’t exactly get weirdos into this because them being pushed out by normie retards has caused them to radicalize into being left as fuck and hating fun. Gonna use furries as an example again, furry has become such a left subculture that a right-leaning furcon somehow became a big deal. You can’t be edgy and weird now, you have to pick a camp. This simply isn’t free speech, on either side.

I remember I knew a brony once who almost fit this bill and he was very enjoyable to be around, till I found out he was similarly sensitive and retarded.

I don’t think it’s the internet access to be honest, I think it was the pandemic. It used to be simple, normies go outside, weirdos stay inside and talk about being weird with likeminded individuals. Now normies are inside and online now and they’re like “Why is it so weird here? I don’t like it, I must terraform it so it’s NORMAL”.

The rot started WAYYYYYYYY before the lockdowns. Normiefication wasn't some sudden invasion, it was a slow creep. The internet used to be a lot harder to access and people used to think the internet used to be for nerds and fags, the second you made internet access frictionless with it being the standard for every cell phone to have it, literally everyone was using it.


Before that, being online meant intent. You had to want to be here. Dial-up, forums, IRC, it filtered a lot of people. Now it's just another mall. The pandemic just dumped gasoline on a fire that was already smoldering. Normies didn't suddenly get curious in 2020, they were already here, they ruined Reddit, Tumblr, and almost any every online fanbase.


They were always like this.

I’ll think about it. I searched up one of my fandoms on it to scope the culture and the moment I saw it referred to as “troonslop” I immediately got turned off.

I’m also incredibly turned off by the fact that most people there seem to be teenagers.

I was (as you can tell by my profile) pretty young in the mid 2000s but I do remember stuff I enjoyed suddenly becoming “Oooo evil” and being mad confused about it. I was a massive Undertale fan as a kid and liked to age up Frisk and make her fuck Sans cause I lived vicariously through her. That was at like, 12, then at 13 the internet considered it suddenly bad for some reason. I’ve lived through clop being bad, then good, then bad. I lived through pngtuber video essays where they go “This is OBVIOUSLY wrong” and it’s something that became wrong like last month.

Only issue is I still dont agree that it’s the accessibility of the internet that’s the issue, the internet could be as accessible as one could want but if you’re not interested then you’re not interested. Something about it became interesting to normies, I just wonder what.
