She occasionally tries to embrace the idea that she's "deplorable" and is blamed for everything. Vibes of Cassandra. But then she runs to another group and expects them to validate whatever heinous thing she's just done. Seems to miss the point of the Cassandra arc entirely.Someone bothered to find out what lolcow holocaust meant by Cassandra. She's missed out the part where when the bad thing happened, Cassandra got the blame for it.
Winter is nearly here.
This tactic was successful a number of times over the past 18 months or so, because the groups of people were unknown to each other, or at least didn't interact very much. She can spin a reasonable victim narrative, particularly when her puppetmaster isn't high off his gourd. He unfortunately leaves her hanging fairly often now, based on observations of her behavior. It takes weeks for a casual observer to sift through Elaine's nonsense and realize that she's a liar who plays people against each other for her own amusement. She initially came across as someone silly and over the top, playing a character but being in on the joke. It takes a little while to realize that she puts on multiple different personalities, sometimes over the course of a single conversation, because she has no healthy/stable identity.
Human Markov Chain.
It's very distressing.
For the record, I have not had extensive contact with her. I unfortunately came into contact with her during what appeared to be a legitimate crisis, kind of like running bodily into a homeless person ODing on the sidewalk. I wouldn't walk away from the homeless person, although "call an ambulance/administer naloxone" is a lot more straightforward than trying to convince someone online to go and see a counselor or psychiatrist. The crisis resolved over a few weeks, and Elaine's subsequent actions dissolved any lingering compassion.
