Eduardo Yáñez has officially addressed the rumors surrounding his health, denying recent speculation that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The 64-year-old telenovela star broke his silence in an exclusive interview with Telemundo, clarifying what he is actually battling. The rumors began after a video from November 2024 resurfaced online. In the clip, taken during the opening of a restaurant, Yáñez was seen making involuntary hand movements, sparking concern and speculation among fans on social media. In response, Yáñez confirmed that he is not suffering from Parkinson’s. Instead, he explained that he has been dealing with a hormonal condition that led to a significant episode of depression.
“I no longer take any specific treatment. I just take a pill specifically to combat depression because it's an illness that has nothing to do with emotions, but rather with a hormonal dysfunction that weakens,” he explained.
The actor also shared that the condition had taken a toll on his physical health, leading to noticeable weight loss and fatigue.
Friends and colleagues, including Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo, have publicly defended the actor amid the rumors, urging fans not to jump to conclusions based on online clips.“I need to gain weight because I did lose a lot of weight when I was sick. I stopped eating for almost a month and had no energy. I have to gain those pounds back, and that's what I'm working on,” Yáñez added.
