Afrobeats superstar
Davido has officially withdrawn the custody case involving his daughter Imade Adeleke, whom he shares with Sophia Momodu.

The singer took to social media to share emotional posts explaining why he decided to drop the legal battle that had been ongoing at the Lagos State High Court.

Earlier, Davido had filed a suit seeking joint custody or unrestricted access to his daughter.

The case, marked LD/1587PMC/2024 and dated April 17, 2024, asked the court to grant joint custody of Imade to both parents. Alternatively, he requested unrestricted access to his daughter.

Davido maintained that he had always been responsible for Imade’s welfare, including paying school fees and supporting her upbringing.

However, the case has now been withdrawn.

Here are four key things Davido said about the custody battle.

---

1. He Never Asked for Full Custody

Davido clarified that he never attempted to take Imade away from her mother.

According to him, his goal was simply shared parental responsibility.

> “I never asked for full custody … I asked for joint custody.”

He said many people misunderstood the purpose of the lawsuit.

2. He Believes Nobody Truly Won

Davido said the entire situation had no real winner, especially because a child was involved.

> “Nobody won, nobody lost but Imade… so I don’t know why some pple r celebrating… there’s nothing to celebrate.”

He expressed disappointment over reactions online, particularly claims that the case outcome was a victory for one side.

3. He Dropped the Case After His Late Son Was Mentioned

Davido revealed that he decided to withdraw the case after his deceased son was brought up during court proceedings.

The singer described the moment as extremely painful and said it crossed a line.

According to him, that moment became the turning point that made him walk away from the legal fight.

---

4. He Wants His Daughter to Know He Fought for Her

Despite stepping back from the case, Davido said he wants his daughter to one day understand that he tried to fight for his rights as a father.

> “My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her… let’s move on. One love.”

He ended his message by urging everyone to move forward peacefully.

The custody dispute between Davido and Sophia Momodu has drawn major public attention in recent months, especially after reports surfaced that tensions rose during court proceedings in Lagos.

At one point, a lawyer claimed the singer became visibly frustrated during cross-examination, causing tension inside the courtroom.

For now, with the case withdrawn, the long-running dispute appears to have reached a temporary pause, though the drama surrounding the situation continues to spark debate online.
