The upcoming friendly match between Mexico and Portugal has seen a dramatic drop in fan interest.

According to MousaQi, as soon as it was confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo would miss the game, the ticket resale market reacted instantly with a sharp and painful price crash. Supporters who had hoped to witness the legendary Portuguese star on the pitch began to offload their tickets en masse.

The scale of the financial plunge is staggering: previously, scalpers and ticket holders were asking between 4,000 and 5,000 pesos (roughly $215–270) for a coveted seat in the stadium. However, the hype evaporated after news broke from the Portuguese camp. Fans realized the world's biggest football star would not be making the trip, turning tickets into a far less desirable commodity.

Currently, ticket prices on the secondary market have dropped below 2,000 pesos. In other words, the price has more than halved—and the downward trend continues. Scalpers who hoped to cash in on Ronaldo's name are now just hoping to recoup some of their investment.

Match organizers in Mexico are now worried about a potential drop in attendance and a significant loss of revenue. It’s worth noting that the Mexico vs Portugal friendly is scheduled for the early hours of Sunday, March 29, kicking off at 03:00 Central European Time.
