There were over 400 people on KF when I logged in last night and that was when word of it being back up had first started to spread. While I'm not a fan of the chats, an awful lot of activity happens there in addition to the forum threads.
The first few sites I joined on the internet were ones...
No. For it to have any value at all it would need to condense all the information currently held on KF - the information LFJ is prepared to take down a website by dubious means to have vanish. I don't think you're in any way prepared for the onslaught you'd be inviting.
It was stable for a while but now it's being flaky. Sometimes you can't reach the site at all and sometimes you can load the front page but go no further.
Chat probably should have been disabled until it's consistently stable. It seems to be creating most of the traffic atm.
Many people - myself included - refuse to join Telegram. He would be better off posting some links to people who reposts his updates, as chudbuds used to do and Pink Blush does now.
His comment about HTTP/HTTPS relates to why there can be issues with images loading over Tor and is unrelated to...
.cc should have provided that but unfortunately it's on the KF server. People who maintain strict opsec on KF sure as hell aren't going to join Telegram for updates.
You don't have to download tor. It's built into Brave and you can open a tor window there.
A lot of kiwis already have tor downloaded, though, and wouldn't be disappointed if having to use it discouraged a heap of the fresh meat which flocked to the site over the last 12 months.
Under 100 people online shouldn't be slowing down the site and if it is then Ken needs to do something about it if he wants OF to be a viable alternative to KF.
The slowness and all of the errors which have been happening over the last few days are literally the same as those experienced regularly by KF. The number of people online is small and shouldn't be having any impact on how the site is functioning.
Unlike the Hacker News accusation, the "consent accident" accusation wasn't made anonymously. The person making the accusation was talking about it publicly which is what prompted Liz to respond on Twitter. We were never able to track down who that person is, but Liz's response makes it...
One thing which is often not mentioned is that a lot of farmers don't like Josh personally. They like the site, though, and they try to avoid being noticed by Josh. His misanthropy is extreme and many people don't want to deal with it so they avoid interacting with him.
I also recall one very even handed article being written last year by a trans woman. I wish I could remember her name offhand because it's far and away the fairest report on KF I've ever read.
I find it frustrating that people continue to get some important details wrong. LFJ wasn't fired...
LFJ has some financial resources available and is likely to try to bury null in legal costs if sued. He lives in both Canada and Australia, so any restraining orders against him would need to be domesticated in those countries - not difficult but it's an extra step which will cost money.
When the farms is down for any length of time, a lot of people stop checking daily to see whether it's back up. Eventually the fact it's back up gets posted on places other than Telegram.
I'm not sure that much exists in the way of greener pastures. That may change if Josh throws in the towel...
People forget that Google had an enormous amount of engineers on their staff during the time LFJ worked there, many of whom have now gone on to work for other companies. While he may not have been universally liked, his organisation of the Google walkout and his starting of the strike fund...
Nah, even if KF never came back up that information would surface elsewhere from time to time. It would just be easier to get it removed from other places for a while until it reappeared again.
KF is not a large site. The main things which have made it a target are its SEO and its extensive archiving. DFE is not a useful tactic against KF.
Splintering the site wouldn't make it less of a target. None of KF's enemies care about the parts of the site which don't focus on lolcows and...
I thought Terrahost was forced into capitulation last year.
And how would people know he's begging for money? A lot of kiwis refuse to install Telegram.
After the drama last year Josh said that "we needed big friends and we found them". The context in which that comment was made suggested...
Images aren't loading properly and refresh doesn't fix it.
All of the bugs I've noticed in the last 24 hours are ones KF has so they may be due to the licence yeeting.
Easy as shit to get the names of people. Vordrak has been employing this strategy for years and has continued to post this information throughout #dropkiwifarms. If you're familiar with how Vordrak works, he'll outline illegal strategies and then finish with a weak disclaimer...
