Being fair here, Cloudflare sucks.

I'm in the camp where I think protection from DDoS attacks should be an open standard rather than something a single company can offer for the Internet.

Cloudflare shouldn't have a monopoly on anti-DDoSing services, they shouldn't be the only player offering encrypted proxies, they're complete pussies that bend the knee to other countries and they'll censor the Internet on their behalf, and seeing them crash causes half the Internet to get taken down because someone over at Cloudflare tripped on a wire (like what has happened today where a lot of websites crashed because Cloudflare crashed on their end).

It reminds me of what the late Steve Jobs said about Adobe Flash. I remember when he removed Flash from the original iPhone and a lot of people went up and arms over what he did because many still wanted to watch Youtube and such but most people back then never understood the big picture; Steve Jobs hated Flash because it was a bloated resource heavy application that had a lot of security holes and he believed that no single company should ever control a portion of the Internet. Steve Jobs would be proven right with the rise of HTML 5 (an open standard) replacing Flash to access most interactive content online thus creating a more secure Internet; he had the foresight to see how the Internet could be much better in the absence of Flash.

It's the same with Cloudflare. No single company should have a monopoly on website protection and this should be an open standard rather than a single private service offering proprietary protection tools to people. I already have my own objections towards Cloudflare as it is and seeing them take down half the Internet every time they crash shows me the Internet should move away from Cloudflare in favor of open standards now.

This kind of shit always happens in any thread about any game or group of games. You can never have a consistent flow of people shitting on a specific game or company that made the game without one or more contrarian asshole going against the grain, not even for LEGIT reasons, but just because. If they're not starting/ending off their posts with "give me ____ stickers, I don't care!!!", then they are just handwaving it off as "just fun" without even explaining what exactly about it is fun.

I get different opinions and all, but standards for what other people constitute as "fun" have been getting increasingly lower and lower to where you will have people that will gladly accept piles of shit and then ask for more. Like, what... do they think they are being "unique" or "cool" because they refuse to call bullshit when its right in front of them? No, this is not helping at all, and this kind of "whatever" attitude is the cancer that is killing gaming because shills like these are all companies give a shit about anymore.

Either that, or you have company employees signing on KF to play defense, but I highly doubt they would be THAT desperate.

Part of the problem is nothing else is really actively discussed here. I recall back when the news of The Completionist being a charity scammer first broke, I posted about it both here and on KF. On KF it became active, dug up more info, and even got discovered and used as a resource by the people who were investigating Completionist.

On Onionfarms I only got two replies and both were "who is the Completionist? Why do I care?"

And that pretty much says it all: Onionfarms isn't interested in being anything more than a refugee camp where we bitch about KF, and for that reason it will never be as big.

The other problem is that a lot of the people here aren't that different from Kiwis.

I think for a KF alternative to really work, it has to

A) have an identity outside of being a KF alternative.

B) have a culture that is very different from KF.

That said.... the biggest thing that saddens me about KF's decline is that they were an information resource, and when they go, they're gonna take a lot of valuable intel with them.

To a large extent this has been true, there are some differences in our culture. But yes, it has been overdue for us to part ways with kiwifarms, which we are doing even if it seems that we are not.

Improve the lay out and readability of the splash page, drop some messages on KF to posters who are sick of the way the farms is, and you'll see the user rate sky rocket.

I hate to sound like a moralfag but I do want there to be a barrier placed on the spamming of the n-word. I've said a lot already that I got to really not liking it because of Kiwifarmers feeling like they need to say it 20 times a post and the post is about Tetris or something and has nothing to do with black people.

Ideally it should only be used when its earned, either in terms of it being applied to someone who really did dun fuck up (Jersh for example) or if users can prove they're not addicted to spamming it, that they really could quit any time.

There is never a reason it needs to be said ten times in one post. Even twice is too many.

And a part of that conditioning is that a very reasonable "please tone it down" request is met with insane backlash from people who suddenly regress to being thirteen.

Jews being tribalisic isn't the only reason why they're so successful.

That is part of the reason but the Jews do have some things in common with other successful minority groups; the Jews teach their kids how to save and invest their money at an early age along with encouraging their kids to pursue a higher education.

At an early age, Jewish parents may give their kids an allowance but they also teach their kids a system with mason jars or ceramic jars on how to save and invest their allowance. This teaches Jewish kids the hard lessons that money doesn't grow on trees; so if a Jewish kid spends their allowance money on dumb shit then tough shit, they won't get any more money until their next allowance and that will teach them on how to use their money wisely. The topic of money is seen as vulgar by many Christians but the Jews openly talk about money with their kids. Do you start to see why Jews tend to be more financially successful?

Another reason why the Jews are so powerful is that Jewish families heavily encourage their kids to get a degree. The Jews do value education a lot so they want their kids to have a degree to their name so that they have more doors open to them for success.

This mindset isn't exclusive to the Jews, you also see this mindset with Asians, Indians, and some Latino groups. Why are so many Asians medical doctors and engineers? Because the Asians pushed their kids to get good grades so they can go to some prestigious Ivy league school.

I notice this thing with White Americans where if the white family is Christian then the topic of money may not come up because many Christians consider the topic of money to be vulgar and some White Christian families may not encourage their kids to get a degree because they fear that their kids learning about the world and how the universe actually works may make their kid leave Christianity (because colleges and universities don't teach religious fundamentalism). Of course the only exception to this are Catholics and Mormons where those two Christian groups do actively encourage their kids to get a higher education.

So White Americans (especially White Christian Americans that aren't Catholic or Mormon) tend to self-own themselves while the Jews and other minority groups beat White Americans in terms of education and finances.

Look if you really want to have more White Americans be as successful as the Jews or Asians then the topic of money has to stop being a vulgar topic and more White Christians have to encourage their kids to go to college or university.
