Interesting. I’d say this will be bad for the ecosystem, they’re just making themselves even MORE of an echo chamber. Now the only way new fresh opinions can come in is via being buddy buddy with already existing members, who probably don’t take well to new fresh opinions.
I want to focus on the whole “Looking in the mirror and seeing how ugly you really are” thing I said. I think KF is going through that.

In the grand scheme of things, Kiwi Farms is not as important as they make themselves out to be. If Kiwi Farms becomes gone tomorrow then someone else will take their place and Kiwi Farms will be a footnote of Internet history.

The wider internet certainly won’t. The people who actively used it will, but I’d say it’d be mostly net happiness.
The issue is something more radical will probably take its place, something that’ll probably be open to minors, considering how much more casual KF is becoming towards hard right minors. Lets just hope that doesn't happen.

One thing that got me is on the page I linked to, I do actually see Kiwis being anti-Trump in places. That... might be progress, I guess? I dunno.
My optimistic hope is that the replacement would curb some of the edges. That's been my biggest recurring complaint (aside from the "no fun zone" thing)--how KF has completely lost the plot on a lot of things. Frankly I would be completely happy if whatever replacement completely bans the use of the n-word, because KF has legitimately made me hate seeing it.
