Agreed. Man's best friend deserves respect. If anything the "angels" in Islam being scared off by dogs or whatever suggests that they would be demons. Since dogs are believed to be able to detect and even ward off evil spirits and demons.

In Practice: Yes. Muslims can have pet dogs and it appears you can import them as well at least from the countries I checked: Pet Dogs are permitted in Morocco. They are permitted in Pakistan. They are permitted in the United Arab Emirates. Yes they are permitted in Qatar. Yes they are permitted in Oman.

However ownership can be subject to country licensing requirements such as Rabies vaccinations, microchipping, certification by veterinarian that the dog is in good health and so forth

Yes, pet dogs are permitted in Saudi Arabia, but only if they are classified as working dogs (e.g., for hunting, guarding, or as assistance dogs) and meet strict import requirements, including a KSA import permit, an endorsed health certificate, and vaccinations for diseases like rabies, which must be administered within specific timeframes.
