No. It is not a tenant. The war verses were written at a time the Muslims were in danger of extinction from warring tribes. It states in the Quran if you encounter non-muslims who want to live on peace to simply leave them alone.

It's easy to forget that accusations of wanting you turn the USA into a theocracy was leveled against another religious group earlier in the 19th and early 20th century (Roman Catholics). Yup anti-Catholic sentiment was prevalent in the USA. Do a Google Search on Convent Inspection Laws. Groups such as the KKK were just as prejudiced against Roman Catholics as they were against the Jews.

It didn't really subside until John F. Kennedy came into office and publicly stated his first loyalty was to the United States, not the Vatican.

Matthew 16:19 Jesus basically gave the keys to the church over to St Peter and told him that whatever he upheld on Earth would be upheld in heaven. And we can trace the lineage of the pope from St Peter all the way to pope Leo.

Now the point I'm making with this particular piece of scripture is what separates Catholicism from Islam. The law of the Pope becomes the word of Jesus because it is upheld in heaven. That is why you have seen the Catholic Church get progressively more... Well, progressive 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sometimes a new pope may be more liberal, sometimes he may be more conservative. The more than one billion Muslims call for the liquidation of the Jews? Hmm what do you think the second largest religion in Israel is after Judaism? It ain't Christianity. It's Islam. That's right. About 17% of Israelis are Muslim. And I am talking about Israel specifally (not the territories). Now I'll admit the antisemitism in the Middle East is worse than in other places. But I am wondering how much of that is more political because of Israeli policies than simply hating the Jews.

When you hate your enemy enough, believe me you learn things that you don't forget. That's why my uncle went back to Vietnam in 2004 after over 30 years and was chatting it up with the locals like it was 1969.
 
Now I do understand that there are progressive Muslims and hardliners but my thing is the hardliner is certainly seem to outnumber the progressives.

I just can't trust people who want to see my children dead. And besides why would I ever want peace with the people who tried to kill me?

At the end of the day I'm not going to sort through who's progressive and who's a hardliner. They're all an enemy of my family by design. The heritage of my son's coupled with what I did when I was in the army... Let's just say that relationship between me and the muzzies will always be tumultuous.
 
A fatwa is a religious opinion on basically whether something is permitted or not. Nothing more, nothing less. Whether it is actually becomes law is a country by country basis.

Iraq was under a horrid murderous regime. But the policies were determined by the Baath Party (like Syria under Hafez Assad) rather than fundamentalist Islam.

Now I will agree with you that the Muslim world needs a lot of improvement in human rights.

I was there in the beginning and from what I heard, we fucked up the church's money by killing Saddam cuz he was the one guy who kept those schlubs in order. But it's not about parties dude, and I think you know that. The reason that the Iraq war kept on truckin even though we took out Saddam in his top guys at the very beginning is because of the Sunnis.

A Muslim is a Muslim is a Muslim. And as soon as we got rid of a dictator, a bunch of Muslim opportunist came in and galvanized psychopaths to start fighting us so we were there for years longer than we needed to be.

The worst Catholic is better than the best Muslim when it comes to women's rights and gays (now you can't lump us in with Protestants because that's a whole nother thing entirely) even hardline Catholics take the stance of "hate the sin, not the sinner" which is a hell of a lot better than throwing people off a roof and blaming a woman for being raped because she wasn't being escorted by a man.
