Well, someone’s not getting “Best Secret Keeper” at the wedding. While Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have been keeping tight-lipped about their wedding plans, Ed Sheeran just let a pretty major detail slip during a lie detector test for Vanity Fair: they’ve already picked a date—and he’s RSVP’d. Yes, despite the couple claiming back in March that they hadn’t even started planning, Sheeran spilled the beans, confirming that Save the Dates are already out. It’s an unexpected twist, especially considering the recent cheating rumors that briefly clouded the couple’s spotlight. But now, it seems love, and wedding bells, are once again the headline.
To be fair, Ed and Benny are longtime friends. They’ve co-written some of Ed’s biggest hits, like “Dive” and “Happier”, and Ed even attended Blanco’s super intimate wedding back in 2018. So he’s clearly in the inner circle. Still, Gomez and Blanco might want to reconsider inviting him to the bachelor party if he’s going to keep accidentally leaking the itinerary. What little we do know about the big day comes straight from the couple—at least the parts they meant to share. Benny Blanco has already requested pickles at the reception, while Selena dreams of her Only Murders in the Building co-star Martin Short delivering an “epic” speech.
The two got engaged in December 2024, and while they’ve publicly said they were enjoying the moment rather than rushing into planning, Ed’s slip-up says otherwise. If that wasn’t enough tea, Sheeran also admitted he hasn’t even listened to their new album, I Said I Love You First. He owns the vinyl—sure—but hasn’t played it yet. Maybe he’s saving it for the wedding playlist?
Either way, it looks like Selena and Benny's big day is officially in motion, whether they wanted us to know or not.
