The President of the French Republic Mr. Emmanuel Macron sent a message of congratulations to his Djiboutian counterpart Ismail Omar Guelleh.

It was formerly known as the French Territory of the Afars and Issas. This tiny country is slightly smaller than New Hampshire with a population a little larger than Rhode Island. But it lies at a very strategic location at the Gulf of Aden and Bab-el-Mandeb (the southern entrance to the Red Sea) and Djibouti City has positioned itself as a major shipping port. What it lacks in natural resources, it makes up for in location in terms of income. Because of its strategic location, there are a number of military bases built by foreign powers that furnish the country with rental income
